Job Description
Due to recent project success and the continued growth of our advisory team, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Advisory Consultant with experience of energy reduction / decarbonization procurement models. The candidate will support the delivery of multiple strategic advisory roles for both public sector and private sector and lead mandates with potential roles covering, decarbonization / Net Zero feasibility studies, procurement options analysis, procurement document development and project set up for major infrastructure projects related to decarbonization, Net Zero and Energy Conservation projects.
In addition, the candidate will support Mott MacDonald’s thematic leadership in sustainability for a range of infrastructure clients in the North America and Canada region.
Typical work will involve:
- Developing decarbonization, Net Zero and Energy Reduction / Adaptation strategies, assessments, and implementation plans for infrastructure and campus assets for clients in Canada and North America
- Supporting clients to optimize sustainable outcomes in infrastructure projects and meet federal, provincial, and municipal targets and policy aspirations
- Structuring and developing procurement documentation, including but not limited to alternative forms of procurement such as P3s, CMGCs, and PDBs
- Supporting and/or leading business case development
- Project management mandates
- Supporting and leading the preparation of proposals
- Internal project management (including budgets) and reporting
- Business development and client engagement
- Supporting initiatives for the regional and global business
Candidate Specification
Candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experience will be considered for the role:
- A degree in environmental science, climate change, engineering, planning, economics or equivalent
- 10+ years of career experience related to the development/authoring of energy reduction/decarbonization procurement documentation, engineering and/or infrastructure development
- Demonstrable knowledge of ECM development, Decarbonization and Net Zero strategies
- Experience and knowledge of LEED, Envision or other sustainable design standards
- Experience within broader sustainability strategies and design features and/or low carbon strategies including energy efficiency, GHG accounting, and life cycle assessments
- Demonstrable knowledge of California Decarbonization legislation and similar sustainability policies
- Familiar and proficient with project management processes
- Demonstrable technical background, with strong numerical skills and ability to manipulate large amounts of data and critically analyze information
- Experience in preparing quantitative and qualitative energy focused assessments for the development of business cases
- Experience in decarbonization implementation and planning
- Experience coordinating projects and teams of people
- Sound knowledge and ability within MS Office suite of software
- Experience of projects in multiple sectors (e.g. Built environment, Transportation, Water, Energy etc.)
- Knowledge and experience of risk identification, management, and mitigation
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of leading and working within a team

Salary Range: $133,000 – 160,000
