Position Summary
Supervise, plan and coordinate the operations and activities for assigned centers; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to higher-level supervisory or management staff.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, sociology, recreation, or business administration; and
Three (3) years of senior or community recreation program operations experience; and
To include one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience .
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession Of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Operational characteristics, services and activities of a senior center
- Modern and complex principles and practices of senior center program development and administration
- Methods and techniques of scheduling various community recreation services and programs
- Principles of public relations and customer service and their application to senior programs
- Modern office equipment including computers
- Principles of municipal budget preparation and control
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations

- Supervise, direct and coordinate the work of lower-level staff
- Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
- Supervise, plan and coordinate the operations and activities of an assigned center
- Ensure proper maintenance and safety of assigned facilities

- Elicit community and organizational support for Senior Affairs programs

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of City and other government officials, community groups, and the general public
