Position Summary
Facilitate the health and fitness of senior citizens; instruct group exercise classes; provide a broad range of physical education and recreation activities designed to enhance the quality of life of older adults and maintain records of senior participants.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED; and
Two (2) years of recreation or fitness experience.
Experience working with senior citizens preferred.
Possession of a valid Group Exercise Certification preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession Of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid C.P.R. Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid City of Albuquerque Cash Handling Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Principles and practices of teaching group exercise classes
- Principles and practices of exercise physiology
- Principles and practices of health and nutrition
- Methods and techniques of recreation and fitness
- Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers
- Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Plan, prepare and implement senior fitness routines
- Coordinate and edit music and fitness routines
- Perform C.P.R. and first aid if necessary
- Operate office equipment including computers
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
