Senior Analyst, Software Sourcing & Licensing

The Role
The role requires building strong cross-functional working relationships with accounting, finance, legal, engineering, and IT teams who support Tesla’s engineering software purchasing process. In this highly visible role, you will require a sharp business focus, a collaborative style of working, and a proactive and critical mindset. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills are crucial, as is the ability to synthesize complex issues, drive desired outcomes and influence stakeholders across functions inside and outside Tesla.
As a Senior Analyst, you will make a significant contribution to increasing the speed at which engineering can innovate. Your work will have a direct impact on Tesla’s ability to scale across multiple design offices and manufacturing facilities while continuing to innovate our products and processes.

Responsibilities
You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to:

  • Manage Engineering Software Asset: Create growth projections, Ensure software license inventory is up to date and active, and Analyze license usage patterns to identify optimization opportunities
  • Coordinate Software Acquisition: Leverage evaluation framework to ensure software meets business requirements and objectives, Formulate recommendations on licensing model and other licensing terms. Coordinate with Information Security to get the software approved, Establish negotiation goals and evaluate proposals to determine if they meet business needs, Participate in negotiations with the software vendor, Develop negotiation strategies that deliver against business objectives, and Drive continual cost reduction through data-driven purchasing initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Mergers and Acquisitions team: Coordinate the integration of the acquired company’s engineering software and processes, and Coordinate the consolidation of engineering software commercial agreements
  • Supplier Management: Establish supplier performance standards and measure adherence, Coordinate end-to-end sourcing process for software and services suppliers, and Help achieve and establish sustainable relationships with suppliers

Requirements

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability.
  • Analytical mindset, experience mining and summarizing data from multiple sources
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of design engineering needs and software evaluation frameworks
  • Proficient in data analysis tools – SQL, Tableau, Python, PowerBI.
  • Familiarity with license management applications such as OpenLM
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

      $68,000 – $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
