About this Job
As a Senior Applied Scientist- Viva Engage, your role is to build predictive models that connect individuals with each other and knowledge across organizations. Our focus lies in discovery, recommendations, and relevance across Viva Engage, leveraging data from our platform and across Office 365.

Location: This team is primarily based in Mountain View, CA and Redmond, WA.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science , Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years data-science experience
    • OR Master’s Degree in Data Science , Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience
    • OR Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience with software design skills using Go, Python, and/or Java
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, recommendation system, search ranking, or data mining
  • 1+ years experience working with large amounts of data and translating insights into business recommendations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or Doctorate Degree
  • 5+ years work experience doing quantitative analysis.
  • 1+ year(s) experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team.
  • 1+ year(s) experience developing and deploying products or systems at multiple points in the product cycle from ideation to shipping.
  • Industry experience in the social networking space.
  • Applied experience with machine learning on large datasets.
  • Experience building recommender systems used in production at scale.
  • Demonstrated customer focus, drive for results, self-motivation, and a propensity foraction.

Applied Sciences IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 – $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 – $238,600 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and iterate on machine learning models to power recommendations for the Viva Engage Feed.
  • Work with large, complex data sets, solving difficult, non-routine analysis problems with advanced analytical methods.
  • Utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) for advanced text analysis and natural language understanding tasks, enabling deeper connections and knowledge sharing across organizations.
  • Leverage generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) techniques to enhance data augmentation and predictive capabilities, further improving recommendations and personalized user experiences.
  • Develop deep product intuition to influence future product roadmaps and drive decision making.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering to craft experiments and test hypotheses.
  • Use communication skills to distill complex technical work for audiences of all levels and across multiple functional areas.
  • Navigate complex situations and influence across multiple product areas by leveraging leadership acumen.
