Senior Associate, Creative for Customer Programs/Retention

This position involves a hybrid work schedule – working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

As a strong creative leader, this position is responsible for developing and executing creative strategy and concepts and managing the development process of creative for direct response marketing, with a concentration on Customer Programs. This person will need to:

  • Work with Marketing Creative CVP, strategy teams and internal teams to develop Creative strategy, test objectives, Creative tests, and control tweaks as needed.
  • Manage and execute creative development to support the New York Life Direct Marketing sales plan and test objectives for direct response media channels, including direct mail and email.
  • Direct external creative resources to develop impactful Creative concepts, including robust creative briefs, copy edits and art direction. Effectively convey objectives, project specifics and deadlines and provide specific, actionable creative direction and feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure deliverables/concepts and creative strategy are in line with strategic, production and operational objectives, and meet compliance standards while maintaining the integrity of the concept.
  • Independently and proactively manage the Creative test plan and budget for a large volume of projects, meet tight timelines, communicate milestones and/or roadblocks to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Present concepts and Creative strategy to channel partners and Marketing leadership. Articulate the strategy and purpose behind the execution and persuade others to support them using industry expertise, experience-based findings, and competitive information, as appropriate.
  • Manage the review process for a highly regulated business line and provide quick workaround solutions for copy/design/format challenges from Compliance, Production, and other stakeholders. Understand product specifications, effectively negotiate copy revisions, and quickly resolve challenges in order to gain approvals. Includes maintaining a detailed workflow history for each work effort.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process or strategy improvements and champion new ideas and out-of-the-box thinking. Act as Creative liaison with internal production team, production agency and creative agencies to develop/improve workflow processes.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years’ related experience required.
  • Previous experience in an agency or in-house creative department required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Design, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to design and write copy for Creative concepts preferred.
  • Expertise with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, including Adobe XD preferred.
  • Must have high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to apply direct response copy and design expertise to creative concepts and give direction to agencies that will deliver higher response rates.
  • Ability to provide copy solutions for challenges from Compliance and design changes to meet production requirements while ensuring changes do not impact effectiveness of the concept.
  • Ability to review test results and interpret them to determine success/failure drivers for creative concepts.
  • Proactive project management skills, with the ability to pivot quickly and successfully manage relationships with multiple stakeholders.
