Who We Are
Verkada is the largest cloud-based B2B physical security platform company in the world. Only Verkada offers seven product lines – video security cameras, access control, environmental sensors, alarms, visitor management, mailroom management and intercoms – integrated with a single cloud-based software platform.
Designed with simplicity and scalability in mind, Verkada gives organizations the real-time insight to know what could impact the safety and comfort of people throughout their physical environment, while empowering them to take immediate action to minimize security risks, workplace frustrations and costly inefficiencies.
Founded in 2016 with more than $360M in funding raised to date, Verkada has expanded rapidly with 14 offices across three continents, 1,500+ full-time employees and 15,700+ customers across 70+ countries, including 43 companies in the Fortune 500.
Overview
As a member of the Engineering Strategy and Operations (S&O) team, you will be an integral partner to help Verkada’s 200+ person software engineering organization run better, faster, and smarter. Our S&O team works with the 10 software teams – in addition to the Product, Design, and Hardware teams – to enable engineers, managers, and product teams to be more efficient and effective.
As a Sr. Associate on the team, you will serve as an operator and thought partner. This means you’ll help to identify the “right things to be done” while also ensuring we “do things right.” You will lead cross-functional initiatives and processes to drive results across the engineering organization.
Who You Are
- A technology lover. Someone with a strong passion for, and understanding of, computers and technology. This could manifest itself as a professional engineer, a computer science major, a self taught engineer, a tinkerer, or more.
- An operator. Someone who will enjoy spending 60%+ of their time running operations of people, processes, and projects. This execution is frequently coupled with determining ‘how’ to best execute those steps.
- A curious strategic thinker. Someone that thinks about the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of teams, organizations, and individuals, and will enjoy spending ~30% of their time asking questions on how we can be better.
- A people person. Someone that enjoys spending 50% of their day in collaboration with others – e.g. team meetings, 1:1s, and informal conversations – to move the needle forward.
- A clear, concise, and thoughtful communicator. Someone that has clear communication whether in-person, on Slack, or in any other medium.
- A conscientious contributor. Someone that takes pride in attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- While the scope of this role is broad, it manifests itself primarily in three activities:
- Building relationships and creating buy-in across teams and functions with technically minded individuals.
- Identifying pain points of engineers, managers, and teams that apply broadly and resonate deeply. There are many things our organization can do better: our team will identify challenges, determine significance, and then build solutions that consider the complexities of implementation.
- Creating and running high-quality, scalable processes that maximize organizational and team effectiveness. This is where the rubber meets the road: creating positive change for the organization.
- Learning and Development – own the strategy and execution of “Verkada University” our internal hardware and software training
- Product Dogfooding – improve the operations of our product and user understanding mechanisms, currently consisting of Customer/Partner Visits and Home Installs.
- Events – execute high-visibility and high-impact org-wide Engineering events on a quarterly/monthly basis
More specifically, within your first 90 days on the job, you will begin owning high-impact, high-visibility, pre-existing engineering initiatives, namely:
In addition to owning those initiatives, you will be a thought partner and operations teammate on initiatives that affect Engineering, including marketing S&O, people strategy, engineering quality, technical program management, and more.
We are a startup with minimal processes and structure. This means the responsibilities have the opportunity to grow even larger: a strong candidate will enjoy navigating this ambiguity and uncertainty with optimism.

Employee Pay Disclosure
At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. For this role, Verkada estimates a starting annual base salary will fall in the range of approximately $55,000 – 160,000. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. Annual base salary is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
Verkada is an equal opportunity employer. We strive to be a welcoming place for everyone, and we do our best to make sure all people feel supported and connected at work. A big part of that effort is support for members and allies of our internal communities like Women at Verkada, Pride at Verkada, Multicultural at Verkada, and Parents at Verkada.
