Senior Associate, Regulatory Reporting Accountant

The candidate will report directly to the Head of the Escheatment Function and be responsible for all aspects of the Company’s Escheatment and Bank Reconciliation processes. Including day to day management of our co-sourcing partners in Knoxville, who perform the detailed functions. These functions require interaction with many groups across the entire organization. The role will provide a unique challenge of completing the integration of a new line of business and new unclaimed property software into the process, as well as a new cash disbursements subledger. This will allow the candidate to further develop; critical thinking capabilities, project management leadership and multi group/function collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate annual escheatment filings with States for Unclaimed Properties
  • Coordinate with Business Areas to receive Due and Unpaid records for annual escheatment filings
  • Review filings prepared by co-source partner (in Knoxville, TN), verify all records for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare payments to States for amounts calculated in filings
  • Respond to state correspondence, special requests, and audits regarding escheatment reporting
  • Manage State recoveries for Unclaimed Property in New York Life’s and subsidiaries name
  • Coordinate and review monthly bank reconciliations completed by the Knoxville team.
  • Oversee issue resolution related to the bank reconciliation process
  • Support the integration of the Group Benefit Solutions business, including a new Cash Disbursements subledger
  • Support the continued implementation of a new unclaimed property software.
  • Assist with special projects

Qualifications

  • B.S. Accounting or Finance preferred
  • At least 4-6 years relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of financial controls
  • Willingness to seek innovative efficiencies
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage offsite team
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Salary range: $72,500-$107,500

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No
