The Technology Sourcing Sr. Specialist role develops, implements and / or executes a Technology Sourcing and procurement category strategy aligned with Sourcing’s objectives
- Provide guidance and/or lead negotiations and Sourcing engagements including process activities such as RFX, Project management, etc., as assigned specific to the Telecom and Hardware Category of spend.
- Make recommendations and/or provide effective input to stakeholder financial goals and/or plans as it relates to assigned sourcing assignments
- Continuously manage team priorities effectively, focusing on efficient work results
- Monitor and keep up to date with related category supplier specific business activities as well as the extended category industry knowledge
- Present/update all pertinent supplier and/or industry issues to internal stakeholders and immediate management and propose recommendations as they apply to existing strategies
Key responsibilities are to
- lead the planning and development of sourcing strategies for sourcing requests of varying complexity, and
- take responsibility for the execution of these strategies.
This role partners with New York Life’s business stakeholders, legal resources and other Procurement team members to deliver value-added business solutions through the company’s supply base. In addition to recommending appropriate procurement strategies and methodologies, the Sr. Sourcing Specialist oversees the sourcing, negotiating, and contracting of goods and services.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to articulate, influence and translate strategic imperatives from the Technology group specifically to the Telecom and Hardware category of spend and its business strategies into best in class sourcing strategies and delivery
- Experience of initiating, developing and executing market leading sourcing strategies and their implementation
- Ability to review and analyze key external trends and influences from a wide range of information used to support the development of IT sourcing plans in support of business direction
- Exceptional relationship management skills to effectively shape strategic solutions with stakeholders and key suppliers
- Excellent influencing skills and experience of managing multiple and diverse stakeholder groups in a major complex organization
- Strong change management experience and delivery of Procurement Technology projects on time
Qualifications:
- BA in Computer Science or related area of study
- 2-4 years experience in Strategic Sourcing Telecom and Hardware category of spend
- Telecom, and Mainframe and midrange Hardware computing knowledge is needed specific to the category. Wide ranging knowledge of technology information systems infrastructure and use, i.e., servers, storage, software, networks, data centers, personal computing and key suppliers in these areas
- Knowledge and experience in insurance industry; a broad understanding of sourcing trends and their commercial application.
Salary range: $72,500-$120,500
