This position primarily has a hybrid work schedule – working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The Strategy Associate coordinates with NYL Direct Senior Leadership Team, Business Development teams, Marketing, Information Technology, Agency, external partners and the AARP client to support key growth initiatives and efficiency projects from a strategy, development, and implementation perspective. Specific initiatives include continuing work on Digital Service and Contact Center transformational initiatives, expanding partnerships, Customer Service Website enhancements and process improvements with an emphasis on efficiency and cost savings initiatives. Keen interest and passion for service operations required. Strategy associates lead teams without a formal reporting relationship; therefore, developing team members and helping each grow into new opportunities is essential for success.
Overall responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating projects and governance pertaining to programs on an enterprise level or for a line of business. Ability to coordinate complex projects across the NYL enterprise and among all levels of the Organization including the AARP client. Provide oversight and direction on key projects to ensure project and program objectives are met utilizing NYL project methodology framework, executing projects on time, within budget, and meeting overall program objectives. Effective communication is critical in order to influence others during all phases of projects. Plays key role in communications and change management processes.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT & GOVERNANCE
• Accountable to coordinate the execution of initiatives through Insurance Operations
• Lead, plan, and coordinate projects for Insurance Operations; Provide project coordination and/or business analysis support to Senior Managers
• Business analysis resource for operational opportunities and/or initiatives including but not limited to research, validation, requirements gathering, solutioning and cost benefit work
• Proficient at balancing multiple tasks and projects; Provides support to functional area projects, as needed
COMMUNICATIONS & CHANGE MANAGEMENT
• Ability to present and effectively articulate findings, recommendations, and conversely communicate/translate project challenges, solutions, and implications to senior leadership
• Act as champion of change and facilitate change management processes to drive digital service cultural shifts and ensure strategic initiative benefits are met
• Support Insurance Operations strategic communications efforts including governance, service strategy, annual planning, intranet communication, department meetings, Manager’s meetings and/or more informal network opportunities
• Serve as a liaison between Insurance Operations and other parts of Direct and New York Life; represent the service organization in cross-department initiatives
• Undertake ad hoc analysis to monitor service activity and identify new business opportunities
• Proficient with MS Office suite (Strong PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visio skills preferred); MS Project is a plus
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university; Military experience may be considered equivalent or 5+ years of experience in program management with a focus in digital service, business analysis, or technology a plus
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Strong preference for operations roles in the financial services industry/Business/Finance or related field preferred
- 6+ years’ related experience required
- Previous experience in strategy and/or program management
- Ability to leverage key business indicators to inform important decisions and develop strategies
- Work directly with Finance to manage forecasts and actual costs according to project budgets.
- Ability to evaluate operational needs to develop business cases for future strategies
- Identifies and lead development of reporting needs to monitor and identify improvement opportunities
- Lead, plan, and manage complex projects for Insurance Operations; Provide project coordination and/or business analysis support to Senior Managers
- Business analysis resource for operational opportunities and/or initiatives including but not limited to research, validation, requirements gathering, solutioning and cost benefit work
- Leads coordination and gathering of business requirement, readiness processes, and delivery of service efforts, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the business
- Understands service operations goals to drive a cultural shift, efficiencies, and growth through our strategic initiatives
- Solid business and financial acumen
- Solid program and time management skills with ability to multi-task in a cross functional environment.
- Engages in deep dive customer journey and data analysis to monitor service operations and identify optimization opportunities
- Uses qualitative and quantitative data to communicate end-to-end customer journeys
- Learns about external factors that impact our operations, partners, customers, and our people
- Broad understanding on how NYL Direct operates
