SPECIAL NOTES:

Candidates must have a Juris Doctorate (JD) and be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar.

Minimum two (2) years of legal experience required.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess Florida administrative litigation, rule-making, or legislative experience.

The appointment salary will be $75,000.00 annually.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) promotes a stable and competitive insurance market for consumers. With a workforce of approximately 250 staff members, OIR regulates one the largest, most complex insurance industries in the world to ensure consumers have access to a wide variety of reliable insurance products at affordable prices.

OIR offers a wide range of challenging and rewarding opportunities for attorneys interested in all areas of the law including business law, the legislative process, rulemaking, and Chapter 120 administrative law. OIR staff members have access to a wide variety of top insurance industry-related courses and professional certifications.

OIR is currently seeking experienced attorneys to join its Legal Services team. All experience types are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with administrative litigation, legislative, or rule-making experience.

All OIR Senior Attorneys have the opportunity perform the following duties:

  • Provide counsel to regulatory staff on complex issues affecting the regulation of insurers, including market investigations.
  • Handle in-house opinions in areas under the jurisdiction of the office.
  • Handles complex issues and questions affecting the public generally.
  • Prepare final orders, consent orders, and act as hearing officer.
  • Assist with public records requests.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
