Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Automation Engineer to lead the development and application of new automation solutions for warehouse material management in our North America Delivery Station Network. The candidate will help scale both commercially available and internally developed automation systems. These systems will be designed to interact with other automation, such as robotics, and people that help facilitate material movement and handling. The engineer will leverage external suppliers and system integrator for detail design, build and integration to specification on a diverse array of applications.
This role requires experienced engineers with combined robotics, automation, engineering, planning and analytical skill and experience. This individual will own automation implementation projects end-to-end and will partner with cross functional teams such as Process Engineering, Operations leaders, Last Mile Tech, WW Innovation Engineering and field RME team to effectively test and scale an automation technology across Amazon’s last mile network.

Key job responsibilities
– Work with WW Innovation team from design phase through deployment to assure compliance to build standards and DS processes.
– Collaboration with internal teams to assess and improve technical documentation such as flow diagrams, equipment layouts, installation details to understand integration impacts on existing processes and building design
– Participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions to provide guidance on automation strategy and opportunities.
– Support lessons learned program for new robotics and automation system to understand improvements needed for design iterations and feasibility to DS
– Be the technical expert in resolving technical issues related to test automation.
– Travel to OEM, supplier integrator and facilities to test the automation systems.
– 20% Travel required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects experience
– Bachelor’s degree
– Experience and strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Master’s degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field
– Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineer tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $95,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,900/year in our highest geographic market.
