Senior Business Manager, Datacenter Operations

Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a Senior Business Manager to support the CO+I Datacenter Operations leadership team. CO+I is responsible for planning, building and operating Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure data centers across the globe. Within CO+I, the organizational scope includes supply planning and strategic acquisition, global construction, data center and edge site operations, critical environment and availability, engineering, and datacenter innovation.

To help us accelerate achieving our objectives, growth, and transformation, we are looking for a candidate who will report to the Datacenter Operations office of Business Management. The role will be responsible for supporting the datacenter operations chief of staff in making, creating, and managing Rhythm of the Business, identifying and driving organizational initiatives and business process to meet strategic objectives and priorities. This individual must have a blend of strategy, planning, data and analytics, business management, communications, and program management skills. Responsibilities:
Business Management

  • Understand the end-to-end business to manage priorities most effectively.
  • Drive prioritization and prepare the team for weekly leadership staff.
  • Lead the rhythm of business for fiscal year budget, headcount planning and semester planning process, driving content and alignment across teams for executive review.
  • Facilitate execution of leadership team directed rhythms including financial planning, strategic planning, white papers, key results reviews, training, and organizational hygiene.
  • Facilitate support for organizational health and leadership sponsorship in culture, diversity and inclusion, manager, and people excellence.

Special Projects/Programs and Initiatives

  • Drive cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and to manage complex business needs.
  • Lead project/program management to ensure organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts that require coordination across multiple disciplines and business organizations.
  • Create clarity on ambiguous projects and develop plans for execution.

Communications

  • Ensure success of leadership meetings, speaking engagements, partner, and team engagements (ex. Town Hall meetings, external speaking events).
  • Tie the communication engagement plan into broader organizational rhythm and resources.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 6+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years business or program management in a global manufacturing or technology organization.
  • 2+ years in business operations or data center domain experience.
  • Project management, data analytics and organization skills.
  • Proven effectiveness driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes, driving cross-team programs to desired results.
  • A track record of collaborating across diverse groups, to drive clarity and effectiveness in rhythm of business and delivering projects on time.
  • Proactiveness and a positive outlook and approach to change management.
  • Business acumen and agility to ramp quickly across our diverse business and offerings.
  • Enjoy working under pressure and deadlines, with an ability to manage complexity while driving clarity.
  • Proven effectiveness driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes, driving cross-team programs to desired results.
  • Ability to synthesize complex ideas into easy-to-understand concepts for communications.
  • Demonstrated capability in verbal and written communications skills across a geographically dispersed audience.

Business Management IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 – $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 – $213,200 per year.
