Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Claim Analyst – Insurance Department.
Under the direction of the Director of Insurance, the Senior Claims Analyst will be responsible for the file opening process of asserted and unasserted claims and litigations, including determination of insurance coverage for named defendants, and the performance of various trending and claims analyses identifying risk outliers, improvement areas and claims trends.
Job Responsibilities:
- Open asserted and unasserted claims files, including the review of legal documents to identify allegations as relates to coverage determinations
- Work with the claims and litigation management team to determine proper assignment of counsel.
- Draft retention letters to defense counsel providing employment and coverage information of the parties served and a summary of the care/treatment at issue.
- Medical records requests for all claims and litigations and timely providing same to defense counsel.
- Works with the Insurance Department’s Project Assistance to ensure all records and documents received are logged.
- Issue litigation hold memos, as needed
- Run and provide claims history reports to insured physicians and assist in the completion of claims history information requests forms needed for credentialing, reappointment, licensure and third parties.
- Update and manage Loss Runs for multi-line coverages and insurance programs
- Assist Director of Insurance and Departmental Vice President with underwriting reviews and prepare recommendations.
- Respond to defense counsel requests for various types of records and discovery needed.
- Using form documents, draft credentialing and insurance letters, as needed..
- Using form documents, respond to loss history and employment verification requests..
- Maintain Incident Log of potential claims.
- Acts as a liaison for the Insurance Department with internal and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a BS or BA with five years multi-line insurance claims administration and/or management experience. Proficiency with opening and closing new medical malpractice claims, including demonstrable ability to review and summarize medical treatment records. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, MS Office proficiency and MS Excel expertise in graphing and charting
Preferred Qualifications:
Paralegal or Attorney licensed in New York with medical malpractice defense experience. Associate Risk Management or CPCU designation.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 – $127,869.56 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
