This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

This position pays between $74,880.00 to $93,600.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

POSITION CONCEPT
Under limited supervision, responsible for coordinating communications activities and campaigns for New Mexico Gas Company, including internal and external communication, digital media, promotional duties, and other projects as assigned. Interacts with internal clients to identify key objectives and target audiences, develops, and implements communication strategies, project coordination, creative direction, as well as support and implementation of various customer and employee communications projects.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with internal clients to develop communications plans, providing strategic and/or creative direction and coordination of communications activities to support projects. Coordinate and meet editorial and production deadlines to achieve corporate objectives.

2. Develop, draft, edit, and obtain approval on copy and projects, including customer and employee newsletters, billing messages, video scripts, executive speeches, and other content. Translate technical information or company terminology into language for lay audiences. Responsible for fact-checking, ensuring readability and accurate grammar.

3. Monitor and update internal and external websites and multimedia platforms to keep information current and accurate. Develop graphics to support internal and external communications. Develop, post, and refresh engaging content for corporate social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

4. Collaborate with photographers, videographers, web designers, and graphic designers to provide direction on creative design. Contribute to the strategic and creative direction of projects as a team member. Work with vendors or freelance artists and others to develop graphics, illustrations and/or photographs to accompany written copy.

Key Internal: Regular contact with all levels of management and team members. Frequent contact with departments across the organization and affiliate companies.

Key External: Interacts with customers, advertising and public relations agencies and other vendors. Regular contact with vendors, contractors, industry associations, community organizations and news media.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

Licenses/Certifications
Required: Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the Company.

Experience
Related Experience

Required: Five (5) years of experience in Journalism, Public Relations or Communications, including publication writing or multimedia production involving multiple internal and/or external stakeholders.
Preferred: Communications project management experience and corporate research or two (2) years of related experience in the utility industry.

Required: Demonstrated skill in crafting effective communications plans. Social media marketing and digital media skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism. Ability to work independently or as a team member. Must excel in a deadline-driven environment under minimal supervision. Ability to convey complex concepts into accessible and engaging content for various audiences. Customer-focused with the ability to develop solutions to complex problems. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications, web-based content management systems, video editing, desktop publishing, and vector graphics software.
Preferred: Advertising or public relations experience including project management in corporate communications or experience working in daily journalism. Familiarity with AP Style. Knowledge of the natural gas industry. Research skills. Spanish language literacy and speaking fluency.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment. Travel required to attend meetings, community activities and conferences. May be on call during an emergency. Some field visits require wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety glasses, puncture resistant boots, hard hat. May be required to work overtime and weekends, depending on business need, to meet unit objectives or deadlines driven by business requirements.
