Senior Communications Specialist

GDIT’s Strategy and Performance Group (SPG) is looking for an experienced, versatile senior communications specialist to support an array of communications activities for multiple functional areas of a federal government organization with a particular focus on international trade initiatives. The successful candidate will work with a team of skilled professionals to support creation and implementation of communications plans and products tailored to internal and external stakeholder audiences. The candidate also will welcome the chance to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, distributed-work environment.
HOW A SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Develop work products per government guidance including providing task-based work plans
- Prioritize team workload based on guidance from government program lead
- Assign workload to contractor workstream staff
- Provide quality assurance and reviews on work products
- Supervise and provide expert guidance to team members
- Engage in regular client lead interaction to provide project status updates and recommendations for processes and execution of team activities to achieve program objectives
- Collaborate with program staff to help translate requirements from technical language into content comprehendible by a general audience
- Conceive and develop print and digital content for internal and external audiences
- Prepare, edit, revise presentations, talking points, news articles and other documents
- Execute quick-turn communications tasks or initiatives for senior leaders
- Plan, write and edit content on deadline and to a high standard of quality
- Plan, create and distribute outreach print and digital outreach materials to support outreach events
- Manage and execute multiple assignments simultaneously
- Support development and execution of communications plans designed for specific initiatives
- Adhere to standards and quality-assurance resources such as style guides and federal plain language requirements
- Plan and facilitate meetings on various platforms (in-person, Webex, etc.) with cross-functional stakeholders
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Bachelor’s degree
- CBP BI/Level 5 public trust clearance with background investigation required
- 15 years of experience managing projects for federal government clients doing strategic communications in an international trade or law enforcement setting including 10 years relevant supervisory experience
- Familiarity with international trade issues such as, CBP automated trade systems (e.g., ACE) import/export process, CBP trade programs (e.g., forced labor), etc., and knowledge of trade community stakeholders involved in international trade.
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum principles
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate task activities, timelines and communication among various stakeholders during project execution
- Ability to adapt to evolving/changing project requirements
- Ability to manage and execute multiple assignments simultaneously
- Experience and comfortability working in a fast-paced work environment with rapidly shifting priorities

The likely salary range for this position is $73,600 – $110,400, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
