Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient individual to join our team as a Senior Control Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records by balancing and reconciling the input and output of claims, premium, financial, and decision support systems. While an accounting, IT or auditing background is desirable, it is not required. Your strong attention to detail and expertise in IT and database systems will be essential in identifying and resolving any discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Balance and reconcile the input and output of claims, premium, financial, and decision support systems.
  • Utilize your IT and database knowledge to identify and resolve discrepancies and out-of-balance conditions.
  • Track and document the resolution of out-of-balance conditions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to address balancing and control-related inquiries.
  • Reconcile dividend and commission expenses and prepare necessary expense accounting adjustment entries.
  • Prepare all required accounting entries for the monthly transaction journal.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure production quality and adequate controls.
  • Assist IT Operations in adhering to production schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical or accounting related field, preferably with IT and database systems, or experience in accounting or auditing.

Preferred Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical field, preferably with IT and database systems, or experience in accounting or auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL or other database query languages.
  • Experience in designing and implementing control processes to ensure data accuracy.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets and identify patterns or anomalies.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools and statistical software (e.g., R, Python) to perform data analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Salary:$31,100 – $46,700

The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.

This position is a full time hourly non- exempt ( overtime eligible) position.
