DESCRIPTION
The Senior Cook will be required to act as person in charge on the occasions when the food service supervisor are not available. Performs a variety of duties related to hot and cold production and service to patients according to established procedures and quality standards. Procures menu items according to department standardized recipes and possesses knowledge of specialized diets. Prepares food items to the highest standards with respect to appearance, taste, texture, temperature and portion control. Upholds all departmental sanitation and hygiene standards. Assists in the direction, coordination, and training of cooks. Sets leadership example by willingness to work all job tasks and provide feedback through effective communication. Ensures that employees adhere to all policies and procedures and reports any problems to supervisor. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) or more years experience as a cook in a large, complex healthcare facility, hotel, restaurant, catering, or institution.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food and food products.
- Proven skill in all areas of quality food production to include tray-line, cafeteria, grill and/or catering.
- Ability to maintain kitchen area in a clean and organized fashion at all times, with equipment property cleaned and sanitized.
- Thorough knowledge of health department codes and ability to adhere to policies regarding sanitation and safety at all times.
- Possess superb customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in cooking at a Title 22 licensed healthcare facility.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to work weekends, variable days and hours and locations based on business needs.
- Ability to bend, squat, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $41,301 – $54,559 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $19.78 – $26.13
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
