About the role
We have an outstanding opportunity for an inspirational leader to support Marketplace products for our Product Legal team. The Product Legal team provides centralized ownership of all product related work as well as offering guidance and support to US&C operations teams. The role will also be required to undertake legal work with a focus on product development counseling across both the Mobility and Delivery lines of business.
This position can be based in any of our regional hubs – Washington, D.C., San Francisco, CA, Chicago, IL, Seattle, WA, New York, NY and will report to the Director, Head of Marketplace Legal based in Washington D.C.
What you’ll do
– Lead legal reviews of new Marketplace products or features, which design and operationalize the technology for pricing and matching riders / drivers and eaters / couriers using the Uber and UberEats app.
– Coordinate global reviews with our regional partners, create / review terms & conditions, and advise on how to position/structure these products/features to reduce risk.
– Be an active and trusted business partner, and ensure the provision of timely business-focussed advice to the Mobility and Delivery business on marketplace issues of pricing and matching.
– Work closely with regional legal teams, specialist internal legal counsel and represent legal for product reviews and contracts.
– Work collaboratively with teams including tax, policy and communications to strategically advise.
– Understand, interpret and apply current laws and regulations to Uber’s business models in the region and your areas of responsibility.
– Provide critical and proactive legal and strategic feedback on a wide range of sophisticated and strategic issues. It’s our job to peer around corners for the business and ensure that we are well-positioned for the future.
– Be a strong communicator and collaborator to effectively support a high-performing, diverse team and outside counsel to achieve our legal and regulatory priorities.
Basic Qualifications
– J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state
– Minimum 8+ years of legal experience with some material in-house or government experience.

– Background in pricing or economic modeling.
– The ability to juggle multiple projects at a time in an exciting, fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team to stay in sync and working independently to get the job done.
– Superior analytical skills, innovative thinking, and a desire to take the initiative and think two steps ahead.
– Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with both business leaders and cross-functional partners, with a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner across functions to build consensus.

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $204,000 per year – $226,500 per year.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $227,000 per year – $252,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $227,000 per year – $252,000 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $204,000 per year – $226,500 per year.
For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $227,000 per year – $252,000 per year.
