Job Summary
Responsible for providing legal advice, assistance, and counsel to the company on a wide range of legal issues relating to product initiatives, regulatory issues and compliance matters on an enterprise-wide basis. Responsibilities of the position involve legal research and analysis to monitor and analyze new, existing and pending regulatory developments pertinent to the company’s business, and that make necessary changes to policy forms, rules and system tables as needed for various rate, rule and forms filings. Salary commensurate with experience. $150,000 – $180,000 yearly
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education: Juris Doctorate required.
Experience: 6-8 or more years.
Knowledge: Professional knowledge in field. Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Develops new applications based on professional principles.
Decision Making: Makes complex decisions interpreting company policy, for which there is no set procedure. Decisions influence success for projects of significant impact importance, client relationships, expenses and or ability to meet organizational objectives.
Supervision Received: Works under consultative direction towards long-range objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated.
Leadership: Plans and conducts assignments generally involving the larger more complex projects. May lead or direct projects of significant importance.
Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of innovation. Ensures that solutions are effective in meeting organizational objectives. Questions problem definition to address underlying issues.
Client Contacts: Contacts other departments and or external organizations or parties frequently. Contacts are primarily at or below upper management levels. Represents organization on specific projects. Communication may involve persuasion, and negotiation.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Juris doctorate degree required and must be licensed and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction. Experience with regulatory compliance is required. Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent analytical and organizational skills and proficiency in personal computer skills including online legal research.
