Position: Senior Customer Modeling and Insights Data Scientist
Job Location: 860 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Identify and analyze massive flows of users’ behavior from online, mobile, and offline commerce and user activity by utilizing Hadoop, GCP, and Spark. In the absence of corresponding data points, collaborate with the Front-End Engineering Team to capture the data points needed to identify and analyze users’ behaviors. Characterize and classify hundreds of millions of omnichannel customers’ behaviors. Identify what customers are interested in, why they are coming to the retail store, and make findings into actionable business plans. Utilize state-of-the-art machine learning and deep-learning algorithms to predict hundreds of millions of customers’ preferences and intents by leveraging their omnichannel shopping behavior. Capture time and seasonal event-dependent shopping behavior for individual customers at Walmart.com by utilizing the latest developments in time series and deep-learning sequential models such as RNN, LSTM, and ARIMA. Strategize and collaborate with other stakeholders to introduce massively scalable 1:1 personalized recommendations by introducing customers’ preferences and their shopping intent using Gensim, Scikit-Learn, MLLib, and TensorFlow. Understand serving layer backends to ensure a low-latency and highly predictive personalized shopping journey for customers. Research new technologies, write papers, and publish patents on state-of-the-art 1:1 personalized customer shopping experience. Stay up to date with the latest machine learning and deep learning technologies to power and optimize personalization models at scale.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.
Skills Required: Experience coding in Python and C/C++. Experience with big data tools: Hadoop and Map-Reduce. Experience implementing reinforcement learning frameworks: Markov Decision Process and Temporal Difference Learning. Experience with Computer Vision. Experience with Deep Learning using PyTorch and TensorFlow. Experience applying neural networks and image based embedding method: Convolutional Neural Networks. Experience with text based embeddings and neural networks used for NLP applications including Word2Vec and language models: RNN and LSTM. Experience with Machine Learning Algorithms including Classification and Clustering using support vector machines. Experience with recommender systems, matrix factorization, and collaborative filtering. Experience programming computer algorithms. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or professional experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: The annual salary range for this full-time position is $144,000/year to $200,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
