Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and under-served communities around the world.
To deliver these complex solutions, as a Data Engineer for Kuiper ProductionOps you will partner with peers across all Kuiper teams, including hardware, software, supply chain, manufacturing, launch, facilities, finance, compliance, and HR.
This role includes direct responsibility for architecture and engineering of data infrastructure across our systems of supply chain, development, production and test. You will provide analytical support for production optimization by managing data store, develop and track key performance indicators and help make data driven program decisions. This role will be designing and developing ingestion of data that will provide insights into our business health.

Key job responsibilities
* Develop Kuiper data store products, infrastructure and data pipelines leveraging AWS services (such as Redshift, Kinesis, EMR, Lambda etc.) and internal Amazon tools (Datanet, Cradle, QuickSight etc.)
* Improve existing solutions and come up with next generation Kuiper’s Data Architecture to improve scale, quality, production performance, supply chain execution.
* Develop new data models and end to end data pipelines.
* Lead design reviews for other Data Engineers on the team and actively participate in design reviews of related Kuiper tech products.
* Provide technical and thought leadership for Data Engineering and Business Intelligence within Kuiper orgs.
* Create and implement Data Governance strategy for mitigating privacy and security risks.

This role will be highly collaborative, requiring partnerships with cross-functional leaders to drive positive results. You will tackle challenging, novel business problems every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams of Kuiper.
You will work on built data infrastructure and enable development of tools for Kuiper’s production teams that will help streamline the production of our satellite technology.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of data engineering experience
– 5+ years experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
– 5+ years experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
– 5+ years of SQL experience
– 5+ years experience mentoring team members on best practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
– Experience operating large data warehouses

The base pay for this position ranges from $123,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market.
