We’re currently looking for:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Data Governance Lead to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance, data management, and data protection. As the Data Governance Lead, you will be responsible for developing and executing our data governance strategy, as well as ensuring adherence to data governance standards and guidelines across the organization. You will work closely with various stakeholders to promote a culture of data quality and compliance, and to enhance the value of our data assets.
Job Responsibilities:
- Communicate the data governance vision, strategy, and importance of managing data as an asset.
- Act as a Product Owner of our unified Data Governance Platform – Alation: drive adoption, implementation, configuration of workflows and processes, collaborate with users and data stewards and engineers.
- Lead various stakeholders across various organizations to apply established data governance framework including, data stewardship, metadata management, and data access controls.
- Create and maintain data governance standards, guidelines and processes that execute in accordance with the enterprise data governance strategy.
- Lead coordination of data quality remediation plans where data fails to meet established data governance standards.
- Coordinate with legal, IT, and business teams to ensure compliance with key data privacy requirements related to PII, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar regulations.
- Create and support implementation of data retention and disposition standards to support legal, technical, and business requirements.
- Lead the creation of data domain groups formed to make enterprise-wide decisions on data and Drive data governance action items with data stakeholders through to completion.
- Lead the data decision-making process in a consistent and transparent manner that brings together business and IT stakeholders.
- Deliver education and training on data governance concepts, standards, guidelines, and processes.
- Conduct metadata discovery to identify and capture the lifecycle of a data asset as well as source-to-target data mapping for assigned data assets. Work closely with teams to ensure that technical metadata is recorded and updated in a data dictionary.
- Ensure issue management processes are in place to capture and resolve data issues in a timely manner.
- Promote the dimensions of data quality and partner with key stakeholders to define data standards and business rules that ensure the quality requirements of data assets.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 8+ years experience in data governance implementation, including data management, data governance, data quality, metadata management, master data management, and/or designing and implementing functional systems and data in a structured process.
Desired Qualifications:
- Background in data engineering and/or leading a data governance team
- Detail-oriented with ability to focus on managing multiple reports and processes
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with proven ability to establish and cultivate relationships with vendors and business SMEs.
- Data management and data quality tool experience.
- Project management / implementation of data management policies and standards.
- Experience with relevant project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Design thinking, Kanban, etc.).
- Demonstrated executive engagement and presentation skills.
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience

If you are hired in Denver or Dallas, the compensation range for this position is between $115,000 and $131,000 for full-time employees, in addition to eligibility for variable pay, equity, and benefits. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, health and wellness, 401k, ESPP, vacation, parental leave, and more! The salary may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience.
