About the Role:
We are looking for a thoughtful and collaborative Design Program Manager to join our growing Design Operations team within Platform Design to increase proficiency across the organization. Design Program Management works across the entire team, supporting our biggest projects, defining and tracking our goals, and ensuring that every designer has the support they need to promote creativity and invent customer-focused solutions. If you are excited to join the growing Design Program Management practice, with an aim at developing end-to-end process, routines, rituals, artifacts, engagement across the Product Organization and beyond, all within an inspiring UX team, with a big impact on our customers’ experience we’d love to meet you. Our UX organization is mostly on the west coast but we are distributed throughout the United States and we are open to remote candidates for this position. You will report directly into the Head of Platform Design
You Will:
– Manage and evolve our end-to-end design process including activities, artifacts and meetings or routines;
– Stand-up supporting rituals and routines to support elevation of cross-department design projects from discovery to validation into a program of work, including running table stakes program management routines like sprint planning, grooming and running the board
– Support defining how-we-work 101- i.e. methods and training for the design team to use, creating practical applications of process to tooling (Figma, JIRA) and across teams (UX Designer to Accessibility PM)
– Be a trusted advisor and strategic partner to Directors of Design supporting roadmap planning, helping galvanize and increase engagement across the team
– Work with and be an advocate for Platform Design within the Feature Design work, including Accessibility, Design Systems
– Be a resource and collaborator with Product, Engineering and other business, support or control partners; work collectively to identify opportunities to improve the design process and conversely to advocate for the design process across the business
– Create meaningful reports and presentations of program details and health for leadership – detailed and at-a-glance including resourcing and capacity planning

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 5+ years of experience managing complex change and projects for a large software business
– Proficiency with project management software especially JIRA / Atlassian tools
– Experience with complex processes, including standard design process and practices
– Helped teams of designers create a process to clarify ambiguous problems
– Created clear and detailed program documentation
– Comprehension of common design tools such as Figma and Sketch
– Commitment to following through and helping others make decisions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Certification in common program management techniques
– Experience as a designer, in service design, in design operations
– Understanding of Accessibility / WCAG best practices
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $103,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $192,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
