Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Developer I – IT.

In this role, the successful Education IT Senior Developer will contribute to the work of building and enhancing the technologies that support of the education mission of NYU Langone Health. We develop innovative applications and infrastructure for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate medical education. The applications developed by Education IT play an essential role in advancing the educational programs of NYU Grossman School of Medicine and NYU Long Island School of Medicine. Our technology team is highly collaborative and we are passionate about building and refining our systems, software, and user experience to be as elegant and effective as possible.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT) and Institute for Innovations in Medical Education leadership, team members and organizational partners to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions.
    • Troubleshoot problems in their area of expertise.
    • Analyze a chain of events and applies technical knowledge following established procedures and/or detailed specifications.
    • Make recommendations towards the development of new code, tools and products or reuse of existing systems. Identify ideas to improve system performance.
    • Align business and IT strategies, and comply with the architectural standards of MCIT.
    • Meet project deadlines.
    • Choose the appropriate approach of procedure to address a work task.
    • Participate in systems analysis and design using development, quality assurance and integration methodologies.
    • Participate in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy-versus-build recommendations.
    • Under the direction of the technical lead, participate in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and/or supporting application software for the education mission.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers. Possess up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the industry. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Requires 5 or more years of experience and BA/BS degree or equivalent. Experience with the technology in our stack or comparable experience. Experience with RESTful web services. Solid fundamental understanding of software development best practices. Experience with Git and Jira. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders. Ability to support multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritize work to meet and/or exceed established service levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in SQL (MySQL, Oracle)
Experience with continuous integration and test-driven development
Familiar with Agile software development practices
Strong data modeling skills
Knowledge of Linux and basic shell scripting
Knowledge of Node.js, React, Django and Nginx a plus.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 – $112,425.65 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
