Job Description

Merkle is looking for a Senior Digital Copywriter to join our team, focused on writing for web and long and short form advertorial copy. The Senior Copywriter will have the opportunity to write copy for multiple Merkle clients ranging from consumer packaged goods and global restaurant chains to automotive and government clients. There are also exciting new business pitches and internal projects to get involved in throughout the year.

You will stay up to date on industry trends and copywriting best practices to apply insights to copywriting projects for multiple marketing channels including email, paid social media ads, display ads, SEO, web, video scripts, and sometimes long-form content. To be successful in this role the Senior Copywriter will push boundaries to go beyond the creative brief, take feedback and learn from it, and present ideas internally and to clients.

You will sit within the D.A.M. (doers and makers) Creative Studio team, which is one of many Merkle creative studio teams across the U.S. We all work remotely from different time zones – so, communication is important! Every Monday we have a team status where we come together to review workloads and identify any issues or needs of team members. We stay connected via Microsoft Teams chats, monthly lunch n’ learn meetings, and virtual happy hour video calls. The team is made up of Creative Directors, Art Directors, Designers, UX Strategists, and Copywriters, all of which work on various clients and projects. You will report to a Creative Director, and work with other creatives. You must be US based.

Requirements

  • Write clear, original copy for digital channels, web, video, paid social, and sometimes long-form content and SEO
  • Self-edit and revise copy in response to internal feedback and client feedback
  • Work in partnership with Creative Directors, Strategists, Art Directors, and UX designers to develop concepts
  • Participate in creative brainstorms, internal kickoff meetings, and client briefings
  • Own copy through the development stage to completion for every project, ensuring the copy resonates with the audience, elevates the experience, and follows the brief
  • Learn and follow brand copy styles and guidelines
  • Research and understand clients’ products and services, target audiences, and competitors’ activities
  • Present concepts and copy to Creative Directors, account teams, and clients
  • Follow and share current trends and best practices
  • Work remotely and be available during work hours (most of the team sits in Texas, so CST or EST time zone location is preferred)

Qualifications

  • 4 – 8+ years of experience in copywriting (agency experience is ideal)
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Advertising, Marketing or a related university program
  • Microsoft Office , Figma
  • Outstanding collaboration, presentation, and copywriting skills
  • Portfolio or PDF of current copywriting experience
  • You will be required to pass two background checks, including a government background check

Additional Information

The anticipated salary range for this position is $51,000 – $68,000. Salary is based on various factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
