Job Description:
Dow Jones is seeking a Senior Director, Paid Media to lead the strategy, management and optimization across all paid media channels for The Wall Street Journal. The Director will oversee all in-house paid media operations dedicated to acquiring, engaging and retaining WSJ subscribers globally. This role will report into the VP, Acquisition and Paid Media and will work cross-functionally with teams across the membership marketing funnel (Acquisition, Engagement, Retention, Brand, Product etc..). This role will also be responsible for managing a team of subscription marketers.
- Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop and execute acquisition media campaigns across all media mix channels to push growth by combining data, technology and behavioral insights
- Overview a multi-million dollar budget across platforms and markets to maximize acquisition volume and increase audience reach
- Analyze and interpret data with the Data Insights team to make recommendations to improve existing campaigns and develop new strategies that will inform future decisions.
- Optimization algorithms, bid types, targeting, and buying strategies across existing and emerging marketing platforms
- Build strong relationships with both marketing platforms (e.g., Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Twitter, Snap, Reddit) for innovative acquisition opportunities and partners/agencies that can drive scalable acquisition profitably on these platforms
- Strengthen a collaborative relationship between paid and organic media teams
- Build a relationship with our internal partners in Advertising, Newsroom, and Partnerships
Desired Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience working on omni-channel, direct response marketing
- Deep understanding of Paid Media (Digital, Offline, Events), LTV and CAC ratios
- Strong understanding of Direct media strategy, overseeing implementation and day-to-day optimizations.
- Expert understanding of Marketing Technology – Media Analytics. Ad Server, DSP, CDP, Ad Verification tools
- Ability to inspire and lead a team, as well as the ability to work closely and gain the support and trust of a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience leading a team of 10+ reports
- Budget management and/or P&L experience
- Strategic thinker as well as an agile executer able to pivot quickly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to interface with a variety of senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment
