Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director – Workplace Technology.
In this role, the successful candidate will report to our Vice President of IT Architecture and Infrastructure. The Senior Director of Workplace Technology is responsible for assisting in setting strategy, implementation, support, and operationalizing best practices around our diverse endpoints. At NYU Langone Health, we leverage desktop computers, laptops, smart phones, tablets, thin clients, printers, kiosks, telephones, audio visual technology and a variety of IoT devices, both wired and wireless, that cater to our clinical, administrative, education and research staff. The Senior Director will partner with the architecture team to align end user priority, perform assessments and be the liaison with key strategic partners/vendors to ensure that endpoint technology roadmaps are maintained and always within accepted vendor guidelines to keep the technology debt at agreed upon levels.
This role will provide structure and leadership to manage team priorities, streamline work efforts, manage business expectations, and communicate status to leadership. As a member of the infrastructure management team, you will also have the chance to offer new thinking on how we refresh our endpoint technology. Workplace Technology is comprised of plan-build-run for traditional and digital telephony, unified communication, messaging and collaboration, media facilities, audiovisual and office tools.
The individual should be comfortable working across all of NYU Langone Healths business units to implement, enhance and maintain collaboration technologies. This role is crucial for the development of strategies to enable collaboration in the future, making our environment an easier place to work. This individual will leverage the latest recognized technologies and processes and will execute a multi-year roadmap to deliver these services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Increase the effectiveness of NYU Langone Health endpoint platforms by building strategies and delivering value:
- Develop an understanding of the workplace technologies currently in use and the business use cases that they serve; identify white spaces in them and evaluate how they can be mitigated.
- Ensure focus on continuous improvement of collaboration platforms, based on latest market trends, to develop a roadmap for a collaborative scalable organization.
- Evaluate the workplace technologies market, analyze the impact on employee production and regularly evolve roadmaps for these platforms.
- Work closely with MCIT architects and formulate strategies on how workplace technologies can improve employee satisfaction and productivity.
- Identify how unified communications platforms like Cisco WebEx or Microsoft Teams or Zoom can improve innovation and idea sharing, to transform our work culture to oneof collaboration and innovation both for internal users, B2C and B2B.
- Assess the latest market trends on email, audiovisual services, and telephony, and evaluate how they can be incorporated to improve collaboration of end users up, down and across the organization.
- Drive unified communication across the organization by integrating distinct toolsets and communication mediums.
- Communicate effectively within and across multiple teams including vendors when required.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership across the function, while driving performance improvement, building technical capability, and developing talent
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement that proactively manages resolution of serious and complex problems, identifying underlying causes and performing corrective action appropriately.
- Increase the use of conferencing technologies for business use cases (e.g., review meetings, interviews, corporate communications, etc.)
- Define and deliver strategies and solutions for Endpoint Workplace transformation, including the vision, roadmap, and governance model.
- Implement an overarching, rein in emerging technologies, optimize capital and operating costs and provide new and enhanced customer experiences for employees and clients (i.e., Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, Citrix, Palo Alto Prisma and F5 Remote Access, etc.)
- Provide the rapid integration of emerging technologies and innovation, allowing our internal customers to access their data securely anywhere and anytime.
- Assess the maturity and address the true business needs related to mobility, collaboration, and self-care, while ensuring performance and cost efficiency
- Sponsor Voice of the Customer workshops and adopt continuous improvement best practices.
- Leverage cloud or hybrid services appropriately to gain efficiencies and drive to building a sing pane of glass to manage the endpoint technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- To qualify you must have a B.S. degree in information systems, computer science or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in the IT arena, with 10+ years of leadership experience.
- Intimate knowledge of distributed systems technologies such as server, storage, desktop, enterprise monitoring tools architecture.
- Health care experience a plus; understanding of the requirements of an integrated academic medical center.
- Industry Certifications a plus: (MCSE, etc.)
- Experience managing a team of 50+ staff.
- Experience managing multiple projects and initiatives.
- Industry vendor knowledge and established relationships.
- Effective speaker, collaborative worker, and good writing skills.
- Experience with architecture and engineering review board governance structure with a central project management office.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $201,393.92 – $241,993.65 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
