As a Senior Embedded Software Architect, you will participate in the product development process from prototype to market launch. Emphasis will be on owning the embedded system architecture and also on participating in design, development, verification, and release of our firmware/software package. You will own the embedded software architecture and will ensure that the product meets or exceeds key performance, regulatory, security, and compliance targets. You have repeatedly demonstrated ability to design, specify, implement, test, and verify product features from prototype to launch, lead and mentor fellow engineers, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and work well in teams with little guidance. You must have a great sense of ownership and possess a solid understanding of and have experience with embedded system architecture, computer science fundamentals, and the software development processes following Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
In this role, you will
• Own software architecture and development of new features for embedded systems
• Collaborate closely with system architect, hardware and firmware developers, science team, PD, PM and manufacturing test teams to ensure all the product requirements are met
• Participate in development of embedded system from prototype to launch
• Investigate, prototype and deliver new and innovative system solutions and/or optimize existing system architecture
• Deliver investigation plans and reports, architectural documents, design specs, software and firmware source codes, scripts, verification documentation and standard operating procedures
• Design, develop, verify, and release firmware for embedded systems
• Work with new technologies that are vital to product development
• Participate in design reviews, documentation, and verification
• Mentor fellow firmware engineers

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 7+ years of experience as an Embedded Engineer, Hardware Systems Engineer or equivalent
- Experience in embedded design, development, and verification in a regulated industry
- Experience in coding in C/C++
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Mastery of Computer Science fundamentals: object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysisExperience as a technical team lead with project management responsibility
- Experience in designing algorithms and making data-driven design choices
- Experience with RTOS, Embedded Linux or Windows Embedded
- Familiar with at least two microprocessor architectures such as ARM, MIPS, x86
- Experience in embedded boot & security, over the air and wired update and real time debugging
- Domain expertise in one or more – actuators, sensors, cameras and displays
- Hands on software development experience for wireless systems – WiFi and Bluetooth Low Energy
- System level understanding of serial communication interfaces – UART, I2C, SPI, MIPI, and USB
- Board level experience and debugging/trouble-shooting skills of embedded systems
- Experience with at least one scripting language – preferably Python
- Factory experience and experience of shipping product in large scale including Beta and production Software development
- Excellent documentation and writing skills
- Expert understanding of resource constraint MCU devices and AWS cloud interaction

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market.
