Job Summary
Location: Mostly remote-near several North American hub locations
As a Senior Environment Artist with Maxis, you will lead a team of Environment Artists to create 3D environments for the Sims to live in. We are gearing up for our next big production and we need an Unreal-capable Environment Artist to make it shine. You will report to a Development Director.
Responsibilities
- Be the main contact for other disciplines on Environment Art matters
- Partner with Art Directors and Producers to define craft expectations and development standards
- Perform as an Individual Contributor to solve challenging problems and set the quality bar for the team
- Uphold best practices to maintain craft quality and consistency across titles by providing teammates and partners with technical breakdowns, process guidance, and aesthetic support for Content Leads and Directors
- Provide guidance to Content Leads and Producers for content delivery
- Work with the Art Director, Technical Art Directors, and Game Designers to create a pipeline for creating 3D environments in Unreal, based on visual, technical and gameplay requirements
- Accountable for environments created for prototyping
- Accountable for 3D assets to facilitate Tech Art’s material look development
- Maintain documentation for discipline knowledge
- Participate in team discussions, reviews and planning
- Anticipate and communicate production risks and offer mitigation strategies
- Mentor junior environment artists
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience shipping games as an environment artist
- Experience leading a team
- Experience working on console, PC, or mobile games
- Experience with Unreal
- In-depth knowledge of level creation, with some experience with terrain, scripting, PBR Materials, performance optimization, and level management
- Experience with scene composition, set dressing, navigation routing, materials, and lighting
- Experience with digital sculpting and texturing 3D assets
- Experience balancing art quality and performance optimizations
- A love of video games, and preferably knowledgeable with the Sims franchise

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
° $113,300 – $171,700
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
° $111,500 – $171,700
• Jersey City, NJ:
° $126,700 – $171,700
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
° $111,500 – $144,000
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
° $111,500 – $157,300
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
