The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant environmental, biological or geography discipline
- Professional Wetland Scientist certification preferred
- 10+ years of experience as an environmental consultant permitting large-scale energy projects, conducting field surveys, and writing technical reports
- Background in wetland and/or wildlife ecology, and experience with GIS mapping and analysis
- Strong writing, data documentation, analytical and problem-solving skills are required
- The ability to prepare and interpret reports, recognize problems, and define and evaluate solutions is required
- Good interpersonal and time management skills and should be able to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Travel required for field work
Salary Range: $90-130K

Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Environmental Scientist who can provide field and technical support for a wide variety of energy-related projects serving clients in the following industries: renewables (e.g., solar, on- and off-shore wind, hydro power), oil and gas, traditional power generation and transmission,.
The successful candidate will report to Mott MacDonald’s Energy Unit environmental lead. This individual may be located at one of Mott MacDonald’s various offices throughout the United States; however, there is a preference for following general areas: Denver, CO, Houston, TX, Pittsburgh/Philadelphia, PA.
As a Senior scientist your key responsibilities include:
- Leading and directing wetland and habitat delineations
- Working with multidisciplinary teams to assist private sector clients seeking regulatory approvals and permits from governmental authorities both domestically and abroad.
- Coordinating and communicating with clients and agency staff.
- Gathering and analyzing project and site information and assisting with the preparation of permit applications and associated documentation to comply with federal, state and local regulations.
- Development of technical reports and environmental documents.
- Participation in agency and public involvement processes.
- Conducting consultation with agency staff as required under Sections 404 and 401 of the Clean Water Act, Sections 7 and 10 of the Endangered Species Act, preparing wetland delineations and biological inventories.
- Conducting impact analysis for NEPA documents with emphasis in the FERC (Natural Gas Act) permitting process
