Job Purpose
AkzoNobel is seeking a highly motivated senior environmental specialist with 10+ years of experience to join our environmental liability management (ELM) team in the Nashville, Tennessee office. the selected candidate will manage a diverse array of complex contaminated properties located throughout north and South America. the typical portfolio includes investigation and remediation projects for sites in state, provincial and federal clean-up programs.
Job Responsiblities
- Senior functional expert (strategic, tactical and environmental specialist) providing direction to ELM, Corporate and Business Units
- Provide technical expertise in the development and implementation of investigation and remediation strategies with a focus on cost-effective and practical solutions
- Negotiate with regulators and other stakeholders to deliver cost effective solutions for environmental liabilities
- Manage investigation and cleanup actions in any of the following programs (or equivalent): Superfund (CERCLA), Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), Brownfields and/or Underground Storage Tank Cleanup
- Provide environmental management services such as due diligence, compliance, corrective action, and environmental management systems
- Develop, negotiate and maintain project bids, contracts, budgets and schedules
- Ability to work with, mentor, direct and motivate engineers and scientists
Job Requirements
- B.S. and an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) from an accredited college or university in Geological, Environmental or Civil Engineering, or (Hydro) Geology
- 10+ years of relevant experience in managing large environmental investigation and remediation projects from strategy development to implementation to closure
- Professional registration (Professional Engineer / Professional Geologist), or ability to obtain registration within one (1) year of hire
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with involvement in preparing the following: Preliminary Assessment, Remedial Investigation, Feasibility Study, Remedial Design, Remedial Action, Risk Assessment, Brownfield Cleanup and Decision Documents
- Maintain 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) or 8-hour Refresher certification
- Travel requirements less than 20%
Compensation Data
The salary range for these skills is: $144,000.00 – $160,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
