Senior Export ITAR Lead, Global Trade & Compliance

  • Provide strategic expertise on US and global export regulations and advise on ITAR compliance program implementation
  • Develop and implement strategic compliance processes and solutions to manage and maintain US & Global export regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvements for ITAR programs
  • Assessment of applicability of ITAR requirements in the cloud.
  • Drive process improvement and compliance implementation projects
  • Innovate control mechanisms to best meet business goals and compliance requirements

A day in the life

Interact with Legal, Global Trade Services, HR, Tax, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, and other internal businesses and external stakeholders to drive global ITAR export compliance.

This position requires significant experience in export controls and demonstrated use of mechanisms to deliver training, and to enable and monitor compliance of business, engineering and operations stakeholders.

The candidate should be an innovative compliance professional experienced in building cutting edge programs. In this role, the candidate will drive and scale the Project Kuiper export compliance program through development of effective and efficient processes that support the pace of innovation and business that Amazon and its customers have come to expect.

Project Kuiper is looking for a Global Export ITAR Lead to define program and product requirements to build, maintain and operate the technology, processes and controls which ensure Project Kuiper’s compliance with ITAR and equivalent export control regulations globally.

This role will encompass a broad range of regulatory compliance subjects, including: export compliance processes, software and technology exports, deemed exports, export licensing, export classification and all related export compliance governance requirements related to the business objectives of Project Kuiper.

The candidate must possess fantastic analytical skills and be comfortable working autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment. The position requires an individual with attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills. This candidate must be highly organized and be able to prioritize effectively.

The candidate should be an innovative compliance professional experienced in building cutting edge programs, have great written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to dive deep into complex problem solving. The role will help scale the ITAR export controls program through innovative process development, engaging cross-functional teams that span a broad range of stakeholders, including development teams and senior leadership. The candidate will need program/project management skills, a passion for new challenges, be creative, self-directed, and a great team player. The person in this role will need to drive continuous process improvement, and collaborate effectively to solve problems and develop requirements for new compliance solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years’ experience in export compliance in a global corporate environment
  • 5+ years’ experience in export compliance-related management role
  • 7+ years’ experience in knowledge of US export regulations including EAR & ITAR
  • Export Control Requirements: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
