Senior Financial Analyst (Hybrid Work Model)

About the Role

This role is with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to increase our support for US L&H’s performance measurement and financial reporting activities. Our Financial Analysts work with Client Markets as well as Strategy & Operations, sharing insight into our portfolio and ensuring that decisions are made based on the most up to date and reliable information.

We are looking for a forward thinker, who can ensure we are utilizing the best technologies, and that we are constantly re-evaluating and improving the way we deliver information to our colleagues.

Reinsurance Finance utilizes a mix of regional resources from multiple US offices, as well as teams in Zurich and Bangalore. This position requires an agile worker, one who can find opportunity in the overlapping responsibilities, and ensure we get the most efficient distribution of responsibilities across multiple teams.

Critical responsibilities in the role include:

  • Presenting and explaining quarterly Performance Management metrics to Client Markets and others, including impacts at a deal and/or client level
  • Building and maintaining reporting tools that combine the financial insight of the FP&A team and the market knowledge and strategic insights of Client Markets, to ensure all units deliver on their critical mandates
  • Coordinating with colleagues in Canada and Latin America to deliver consolidated Americas reporting to all of our internal partners
  • Communicating EVM New Business and Inforce results to colleagues in Finance, Client Markets and the Strategy & Operations team
  • Prioritizing and responding to ad-hoc requests from our colleagues in other teams
  • Ensuring consistency between various Performance Management reports delivered to different teams on different bases
  • Incorporating feedback from Client Markets into ongoing Performance Management analysis

About the Team

This role offers the opportunity to work with a team involved in diverse roles, ranging from origination to financial reporting to planning and performance management. A successful candidate will find themselves a part of two teams, a highly collaborative and flexible financial planning team that provides similar support across numerous business segments, and a focused US L&H team that strives to deliver profitable business for the business unit. This role calls on the candidate’s ability to work well with peers and other supporting resources in reaching a common goal.

About You

  • University graduate with a degree in Accounting/Finance, Economics, or Actuarial Sciences
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience within the insurance industry
  • General understanding of USGAAP reporting and Economic Value Management
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the confidence to communicate well in person, in writing and on calls
  • Familiarity and skill with emerging data mining and reporting tools, such as PowerBI, Tableau, Palantir
  • Embraces collaboration, working well across diverse teams
  • Ambitious and energetic, seeking out new solutions and ways of working
  • Adaptable, thrives in a work environment where new relationships and new projects are constantly emerging
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and manage timelines

Travel

We strive to keep travel to a minimum. There may be instances that require travel to other Swiss Re US offices and potentially to overseas offices (e.g., Bangalore, Zurich, etc).

For Armonk the estimated base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $120,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
