As a Game Designer, you design, tweak, and optimize the player experience. You will use your analytical skills, player insight, and creativity to help craft experiences that engage and surprise players. You collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and work with every tool at hand to innovate and iterate player-focused designs that’ll delight millions around the world.
As a Hero Designer working oncore gameplay on an unannounced R&D project, you will explore hero design space and help shape hero design frameworks. You will create heroes that not only engage and delight players, but also ensure competitive integrity and a long term mastery journey.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and deconstruct design problems, explore gameplay opportunities and translate them into heroes.
- Help ensure roles and classes provide a wide range of play styles and that each hero feels diverse and evocative.
- Iterate on mechanics to promote a high skill ceiling while ensuring reasonable accessibility for new players.
- Use feedback and iteration to ensure heroes are accessible, balanced and deliver on design goals.
- Provide and take in constructive feedback. Help shape design principles, techniques and streamlined development pipelines for the creation of many heroes for years to come.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, animation, and other game designers to create great gameplay experiences.
- Collaborate with Riot designers outside of the team to align on best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in professional game design experience, with at least 2 years owning or being a major contributor on hero design for action games
- Experience in designing content that scale for years
- Experience of feature ownership in high speed development with successes in managing tradeoffs between bold goals and shipping value to players
- Can document the details of complex design structures and partnering with diverse teams members to provide those systems to players
- Wide industry knowledge on best practices & design considerations for hero design
- Experience designing and implementing in Unreal Engine
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience shipping Unreal Engine games
- Experience with 3rd person multiplayer action games
- Experience working with physics driven or informed systems
