Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a senior Geologist, Scientist or Engineer to be based in California. This person will help manage assessment and remediation projects with oversight from senior managers and technical experts.
Role accountabilities:
- Preparing cost estimates and proposals
- Client and regulatory correspondence
- Support portfolio manager with financial management
- Coordinating work schedules with Arcadis staff and subcontractors
- Technical report writing and review
- Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits
- Supervise up to 10 staff
This is by no means a comprehensive list, as you grow your career you may have the opportunity to get involved with these or other initiatives and opportunities throughout our global organization. The successful candidate will be involved in interpreting and evaluating field and analytical data to prepare site characterization reports, remedial investigation reports, engineering designs, permit applications, and construction-related documents.
Candidates must be proficient with MS Word and MS Excel. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and strong interpersonal communication skills, multi-tasking skills, and efficient time management.
This position does require travel and field work. During some periods, field work may be up to 10% of your time, with some travel requiring hotel stays. Candidates must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and for extended periods. Candidates must also be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods of time, working alone at remote sites, etc.
Field work will frequently be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. However, Arcadis provides substantial Health and Safety training, support and mentoring for all project activities, and promotes a strong safety culture where employee and public safety comes first.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or closely related field
- 8 years of experience in environmental consulting
- California PG or PE
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for clients in the oil and gas market sector
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training Supervisory experience

The salary range for this position is $82400 – 142140 / year.
