Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Program Director, the Senior Group Leader will assist the Program Director with the day-to-day operations of the program. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the program participants at all times in the classrooms, hallways, multipurpose room, gym, and bathroom, as well as on off-site trips
  • Supervise the program in the Program Director’s absence
  • Supervise students during pick up, drop off, and/or dismissal in case of the Program Director’s absence
  • Assist with the recruitment of program participants
  • Plan and implement successful enrichment, recreation, creative arts, youth development, and community service activities with youth; use talents, knowledge, and skills to enhance program offerings; successfully facilitate enrichment curricula for assigned activities, bringing lesson plans to life in an engaging, active, and interactive manner
  • Provide homework assistance to youth; ensure all participants are engaged in homework completion during homework time and ensure that all assignments are complete, neat, and accurate before assigning an approved secondary activity
  • Prepare for all activities by thoroughly reviewing all curriculum and lesson plans (and seeking additional guidance and support if materials are not clear), gathering all supplies, and preparing the activity space
  • Assist teachers and activity specialists in the facilitation of lessons/activities led by them, and help to engage participants in those activities by participating along with them and encouraging involvement
  • Ensure all activity spaces are clean and organized when transitioning from one activity to
    another and at the end of the day, ensuring that all program supplies are collected and returned
  • Follow the program schedule, and ensure that all participants follow their schedules unless told otherwise by your supervisors.
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures, and regulations for RiseBoro and the SACC program in a proactive manner,
    making the provision of quality services and the safety and care of all children the primary focus
  • Notify supervisors of any behavior issues in the classroom and incidents involving injury, including minor injuries
  • Utilize positive behavior management and discipline techniques to foster reflection, self-esteem, and social/emotional development in all participants
  • Actively participate in all staff training and professional development opportunities for a minimum of 35 hours per school year, and apply all skills and knowledge gained to constantly improve and grow
  • Assist with the planning and creation of special events, program meetings, and parties
  • Maintain a successful, safe, and organized routine for meal time that ensures an accurate attendance count
  • Support Program Director with parent engagement
  • Support all programmatic offerings and complete related tasks and duties assigned by the Program Director as needed

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High School/HSE diploma
  • College coursework and/or in pursuit of a college degree preferred
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with and/or mentoring youth within their communities, schools, organizations, peer groups, families, etc.
