Senior Legal Assistant

What You’ll Do:

Responsibilities of the Senior Legal Assistant include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the Office of Legal Counsel’s Legal Files Administration & System Management program.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert and administrator of the Legal Files Matter/Case Management System and serves as the liaison and point of contact to the system vendor.
  • Manages projects to transition Office of Legal Counsel to a paperless environment in the Legal Files system.
  • Ensures case files, data, and information within Legal Files complies with legal requirements.
  • Collaborates with Office of Legal Counsel team members to develop policies and procedures and to review the policies and procedures of various Ohio Lottery Commission departments.
  • Collaborates with Office of Legal Counsel team members to coordinate passive trusts, state debt processing, annuity prizewinner estates and prize assignments, and to manage bankruptcy notices.
  • Partners with Office of Legal Counsel team member to oversee the agencywide Ethics training process and the Financial Disclosure process for the agency.
  • Coordinates and monitors various personnel and fiscal aspects for the Office of Legal Counsel such as seminar and bar review registrations for legal staff, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Works with Office of Legal Counsel team member to prepare and process administrative and game rules in the Electronic Rule Filing System.
  • Drafts notices, schedules hearings, and processes related documents.
  • Handles various high-level difficult administrative duties to ensure the operational efficiency of the Office of Legal Counsel.
  • Performs other duties and works on special projects.

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management or public administration; 36 months training or 36 months experience in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program for academic field of study commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on File; 36 months training or 36 months experience in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

-Or 5 years training or 5 years experience in business administration, management or public administration.

-Or 1 year experience as Program Administrator 2, 63123.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
