Here you will embark on an incredible career journey with a Fortune 50 company and join a world class legal department.This role reports into the PBNA General Counsel and provides legal leadership, guidance, advice and support to PBNA Supply Chain and Operations in the primary areas of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Food Safety and Quality, Supply Chain Operations and Transformation Projects.

Responsibilities

Support PBNA EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Team: Provide guidance and counsel to PBNA in the areas of environmental compliance (USEPA, state, local environmental authorities), occupational health and safety (US OSHA, state OSHA) and fleet safety (US DOT FMCSA, state DOTs). Legal support includes day-to-day engagement, training, enforcement, permitting and compliance matters, EHS due diligence in connection with real estate and business transactions, supporting environmental remediation projects and supporting environmental litigation matters. This position engages and manages outside counsel as necessary and communicates directly with state and federal agencies.

Support PBNA Food Safety Quality Team: Work closely with PepsiCo Global Food Safety Quality team to provide advice on FDA matters, product defect/recall situations, crisis management and manufacturing-related issues. Know and work on compliance with applicable regulations for plants and facilities (water regulations, product safety regulations, etc.).

Supply Chain Field Operations and Engineering Projects Support PBNA’s Field Supply Chain plant and facility locations with day-to-day legal requests and review requests and documentation for Capex projects. Provide advice and manage outside counsel related to engineering projects, real estate transactions, economic incentive projects and M&A transactions involving environmental, quality and supply chain aspects.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school, minimum of five years related legal experience, preferably gained at a corporate legal department of a large consumer products company and/or law firm; engineering, science, environmental or regulatory background is key.
  • Strong academic/professional credentials required, and superior writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Broad-based legal skills and subject matter knowledge in beverages and food law.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Superior knowledge of EHS laws and regulations; working knowledge of FMCSRs a plus. Experience in managing EHS legal enforcement matters, including orders, citations, civil and criminal judicial matters.
  • Deep experience in contract negotiation and drafting commercial contracts essential. Experience in legal support of sales, marketing and/or corporate transactions a plus. Experience in litigation a plus.
  • Strong prioritization, efficiency and organization skills needed to independently handle/manage/oversee workload and high volume of requests on a weekly basis.
  • Problem-solving outlook and ability to work at a fast pace to drive forward the strategic vision of the PBNA business.
  • Strong ability to build trust relationships with senior leaders that will enable candidate to deliver strategic risk assessments at a fast pace. Executive maturity for regular interaction with senior leaders.
  • Collaborative style necessary. Candidate will be required to coordinate and liaise on a frequent basis with numerous internal PepsiCo cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel, as occasional travel (~10% of time) to PepsiCo Beverages North America locations around the country may be needed.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $140,000 – $280,000.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 30% of annual salary paid out annually and an additional target payout of 15% of annual salary is paid out over 3 years following the end of the performance period.
  • Long term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.
