POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the management and supervision of the Subgrant Application & Management Unit and reports directly to the Bureau Chief of the Office of Criminal Justice Grants (OCJG). Duties include responsibility for oversight of federal pass-through funding awarded to FDLE by the Department of Justice.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Establishing priorities and providing ongoing direction to members about assignments, policies and procedures;
- Exercising judgment in formulating or assessing policies and procedures impacting OCJG subgrantees;
- Acting as a liaison with the US Department of Justice and other governmental agencies ensuring compliance with federal grant programs;
- Assessing, analyzing and making recommendations for resolving issues and problems within the Bureau and Division;
- Assisting with strategic planning;
- Ensuring work plans are prepared and updated as well as evaluating and documenting member performance in accordance with policy;
- Ensuring all new members receive training and support in their new positions; and
- Coordinating and supervising the administrative and programmatic review of state or local criminal justice applications submitted to ensure compliance with all state rules and regulations prior to award and reviewing any subsequent amendments.
To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in analysis, planning, research, evaluation, or administrative work; or
- A high school diploma or its equivalent and eight years of experience in analysis, planning, research, evaluation, or administrative work; or
- Any combination of education or experience, as described above, for a total of eight years.
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system including courts, corrections, law enforcement and support activities;
- Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis;
- Ability to supervise people;
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing;
- Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational performance and management practices;
- Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials;
- Ability to conduct fact-finding research;
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; and
- Ability to work independently.
BASE SALARY:
- $53,338.22
NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE’s pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
