Senior Manager, Data Governance

Eaton’s Corporate Information Technology team is looking for a Senior Manager – Data Governance. The preferred locations for this position are Beachwood, OH, Galesburg, MI, Raleigh, NC, Moon Township, PA, Houston, TX, or Waukesha, WI. Relocation assistance is available to one of our preferred locations.

What you’ll do:

At Eaton we are modernizing the way we use data to accelerate our digital transformation. In this role, you will set the strategy, roadmap and implementation of Eaton’s Data Governance program as part of the Chief Data Management office. You will work with business and IT stakeholders to develop a company-wide data governance program, including the creation of data councils to drive data ownership and stewardship of data assets. You will evangelize the practice and benefits of a strong governance program, as well as implement advanced AI/ML techniques to discover, tag and secure data throughout its lifecycle. This role is also responsible for the implementation of data catalog, data lineage, data quality and data archival platforms and creating supporting business processes to accelerate adoption. In addition, you will be responsible for a team of full stack Data Engineers that will deliver business outcomes for Eaton’s global Finance division, providing a unique opportunity for both technology product ownership as well as direct business alignment to drive outcomes such as working capital improvements, cash optimization and more.

Job Responsibilities
• Develop and execute on a comprehensive enterprise data governance strategy as part of the overall Eaton IT enterprise architecture and business strategy, across a complex IT and business landscape
• Deliver enterprise data models to support key Finance domains (e.g., AR, AP, GL, Fixed Assets, Treasury) and drive Eaton’s Finance Data Hub for unified financial reporting and advanced analytics
• Execute a Data Literacy program for personas including C-Suite executives down to bootcamps for data engineers and analysts
• Implement a federated Data Governance organization across Eaton, embedding formal data roles such as Data Owners and Data Steward in lines of business
• Lead a global team of 20+ employees and contractors to deliver data products and solutions in a DevOps model
• Create and lead executive data councils across a variety of domains to establish and enforce data policies
• Define a global vision for enterprise metadata, enabling automation of controls, data policies, discoverability, observability, and self-healing for data structures and pipelines
• Partner with business and regulatory stakeholders to define an AI/ML-based data tagging framework to identify and protect sensitive information throughout Eaton’s data ecosystem
• Develop patterns for cybersecurity controls on sensitive data, including encryption at rest and in transit, deterministic/nondeterministic data masking and tokenization, attribute-based access controls that follow data across IT system boundaries
• Define global data quality, lineage, metadata and observability standards and frameworks to promote a Data Mesh domain-driven data strategy
• Partner with business and IT teams to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, highly performant and governed in accordance with data privacy and regulatory requirements
• Define, implement and maintain data platforms to support quality, catalog, lineage, metadata and observability for data producers and consumers

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM from accredited university
• 8+ years of data management experience

Technical knowledge:
• Deep knowledge of modern data management and governance practices in a regulated (GDPR, ITAR, CMMC, etc.) environment
• Demonstrated experience implementing metadata management, data quality, data profiling and data observability frameworks and techniques
• Experience with a variety of data and analytics tools (data lakes, warehouses, ETL, business intelligence, data science) and languages (SQL, Python)
• Demonstrated experience in Product and Portfolio Management in an Agile team environment
• Adept at implementing automated CI/CD pipelines for data
• Experience working with industrial manufacturing and Supply Chain business outcomes a positive but not a must

The expected annual salary range for this role is $150000.03 – $220000.04 a year.
