Please note: This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations . This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky and New York. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the positions shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

Description

Manage the corporation’s global compliance function. Under supervision of the Chief Compliance Officer, provides advice and policy guidance, both directly and through the use of third parties, to the Corporation. Keeps informed of changes in legislation or regulations that impact the company and advises management of changes. As a member of the Legal Department, this position will provide support to a diverse, global client group, focusing on those specific areas of compliance as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Oversee FCeX, the Freeport Compliance eXchange, third party due diligence platform, including any system upgrades and integration with other corporate applications.
  • Oversee the Compliance Hotline and affiliated staff. This includes coordination with the Associate General Counsel – Labor on matters for which the compliance investigators have overlapping responsibilities.
  • Oversee and manage regular enhancements to the Company’s major policy documents, including the Principles of Business Conduct and Business Partner Code of Conduct and related global training programs.
  • Manages and contributes to developing, amending, implementing, and facilitating external assurance of compliance program policies, procedures, manuals, systems and controls.
  • Analyzes data from multiple sources to evaluate and identify ethics and compliance risks; the effectiveness of established policies, processes and controls; and makes recommendations for improving such policies, processes and controls. Designs risk-based compliance plans in collaboration with multiple business units.
  • Develops and manages an effective compliance communication program, including promoting use of the Open Door Policy and the FCX Compliance Line and increasing employee awareness of the Principles of Business Conduct and other applicable policies and procedures in coordination with Human Resources and other relevant departments.
  • Effectively coaches, monitors and trains site compliance personnel, as well as direct reports, to ensure consistent implementation of the Global Compliance Program.
  • Manages the global compliance training program and oversees a cross-functional team to coordinate employee compliance training and associated recordkeeping.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and ten (10) years relevant experience managing global compliance programs, seven (7) of which is experience in the extractives sector (mining, oil and gas, agribusiness) for a multinational company.
  • Has an ethics and compliance certification, preferably CCEP or CCEP-I.
  • Experience implementing policies and procedures for compliance with the FCPA, CFPOA, UKBA, International Trade laws (sanctions, anti-boycott, AML, etc.) and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Unwavering commitment to compliance, ethics and integrity.
  • Cultural sensitivity and global awareness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including listening skills
  • Demonstrated maturity and tact, with the ability to be persuasive and diplomatic in situations requiring those qualities
  • Language skills in Bahasa, French or Spanish preferred

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

Compensation:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $118,000-$165,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company’s plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
