About the role:

The Senior Manager, Global Media Relations and Strategic Communications will work with the Johnson & Johnson MedTech External Affairs team.

Reporting to the Director, Global Media Relations & Issues Management, the Senior Manager, Global Media Relations & Strategic Communications will support the development, evolution and successful communication of the Johnson & Johnson MedTech strategic narrative and help the company story tell about the purposeful technology the company creates to reimagine health.

A successful Senior Manager, Global Media Relations & Strategic Communications is:

Responsibilities:
• Brainstorming, planning, and executing key JJMT proactive and reactive media relations strategies
• Provides high-level project management skills: manages time, multi-tasks and moves quickly with efficiency and attention to detail while ensuring deadlines are met
• Partners closely with key colleagues including within the JJMT business, Corporate Media Relations, Investor Relations, the Office of the Corporate Secretary and other key internal stakeholders to finalize, submit and gain timely approval of key JJMT press releases
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of social media and a commitment to the digital space; able to work collaboratively with our social and digital team to promote key media placements and other communication objectives
• Maintains strong understanding of current industry, market and technology trends affecting the Johnson & Johnson MedTech reputation, franchises, and brands
• Finalizing, submitting, and securing timely approval of key JJMT press releases, ensuring alignment with Corporate Media Guidelines while actively furthering the business objectives and reputation of JJMT
• Digests complicated matters and technology to help boil them down to key messages and actionable insights
• Establish and maintain working relationships with journalists who are critical to our business
• Mentor staff and interns to meet deadlines and enhance their skills
• Collaborates with Business Development and Communications Leadership in managing communications associated with MedTech M&A – including key licensing deals, acquisitions, and divestitures
• Serves as liaison between JJMT and Investor Relations in coordinating the submission of JJMT- and franchise-related information and data in preparation for quarterly earnings, Analyst Day, and appropriate MedTech-related investor events
• Displays excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills and an ability to communicate with a diverse group of people and audiences
• Supports development of content regarding J&J MedTech business strategy/vision, including core messaging materials (presentations, talking points, message maps, media fact sheets, digital content, etc.)

Qualifications

Education:
• Minimum of a BA in Communications, Journalism, Government Affairs, English or Liberal Arts is required

Required:
• Minimum of eight (8) years ‘experience in Communications
• Experience with external communications
• Experience managing media
• Extremely strong analytical, critical thinking and writing skills
• Track record of successfully managing communications across a matrix
• Ability to synthesize complex information and craft crisp, compelling communications
• Ability to integrate information and data and shape strategies
• Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrix environment

Preferred:
• Agency, public affairs, digital media and previous healthcare experience
• Experience in government
• Experience finalizing, submitting, and securing timely approval of media strategies
• Experience managing complex communications efforts; including acquisitions and divestitures
• Demonstrated experience navigating across multiple corporate functions to review and approve press releases
• Experience interacting with senior level executives
• Experience working in a global setting and a demonstrated understanding of global organizational challenges with the ability to navigate ambiguous situation

Other:
• This position is global and will require up to 15% domestic and/or international travel

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. The anticipated base pay range for this position is $113,000 to $195,500.
