Position: Senior Manager I, Software Engineering
Job Location: 10500 NE 8th Street (13th floor), Bellevue, WA 98004
Duties: Guide engineers to enable scheduling of appointments at Wal-Mart Health clinics through walmarthealth.com. Collaborate with product managers and business partners to decide on new features to be implemented on the website for a better patient experience. Develop a long-term plan for the website that caters to both Wal-Mart Health’s business needs and patients. Collaborate with other stakeholder teams and obtain alignment on building enhancements and features so that the development work can be done in tandem. Guide the design and architecture of the website and new features. Collaborate with other teams on broader higher-level architecture and design of the larger distributed system. Guide the team towards technical software excellence by enhancing the existing CI/CD pipelines used to build and deploy the software and improve the automated testing suite. Guide the team towards technical operational excellence by improving telemetry, dashboards, and alerting. Provide development opportunities for engineers on the team by training; mentoring; assigning duties; establishing performance expectations; and conducting regular performance evaluations. Resolve technology differences within the team and across teams through informed discussions. This position supervises 5 employees (2 Software Engineers and 3 Quality Assurance Engineers).
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 3 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 6 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.
Skills required: Experience designing and implementing REST APIs using Java Springboot framework. Experience caching data for speeding up services and websites. Experience containerizing applications for deployment using Docker. Experience deploying and scaling containerized applications using Kubernetes on Azure cloud. Experience securing passwords and private keys using HashiCorp Vault. Experience designing databases and tables, creating indexes, and working with Microsoft SQL Server. Experience provisioning and working with NoSQL database Azure CosmosDB. Experience building dashboards using Grafana on the data in Prometheus to monitor Kubernetes pods and other telemetry data. Experience building dashboards and alerting in Splunk. Experience building a rotation roster for DevOps and software engineering in xMatters. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: The annual salary range for this full-time position is $229,986/year to $229,986/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
