What you’ll do…
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.
Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
Project Management: Drive and lead large scale cross-functional projects; identify goals, success criteria, assumptions, own discovery of project requirements through deep subject matter expertise, resource requirements and timelines. Provide guidance on project prioritization and alignment to strategy and understand the implications in a complex environment. Develop, prioritize and coordinate work plans, review project schedules, cost, expenditures, milestones, communication and documentation. Identify potential risks of programs or projects and develop strategies to mitigate those risks. Prioritize and ensure resolution of critical issues. Assess and lead fact-based decisions in high-risk situations and educate others accordingly on change in strategy. Mitigate and resolve disagreements by proactively anticipating objections and adjusting approach. Influence, persuade and educate stakeholders by making data driven decisions and ensure alignment for all. Monitor industry for fresh approaches, benchmarking industry best practices and adjust approach in response to changing business needs. Be a Scrum Master; supervise, manage and master agile methodology delivery for multiple/diverse large projects; continuously plan and manage sprint planning, sizing, prioritization, time boxing, looking at retrospective cases to customize agile methods to needs of project; create monitoring and control mechanisms that allows the team to perform adaptive planning, continuous improvement and encourages rapid iterations and flexible response to change.
Problem Solving: Lead problem solving efforts for complex and ambiguous problems, question assumptions to clarify articulation of the problem, identify potential consequences and risk levels. Use varying problem solving approaches and techniques as appropriate. Devise and make recommendations and guide implementation of corrective and/or preventive actions for complex issues. Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple functions to drive the recommended solutions. Utilize expertise to proactively anticipate and prevent problems.
Strategy Development: Design a peripheral vision; think critically and systematically about complex business problems and opportunities; and apply the underlying theories behind macroeconomic behaviors to all levels of the organization. Evaluate and interpret the influence of organization’s wider environment (e.g., financial, industry, scientific, political, stakeholders, etc.) and offer insights / provide recommendations related to macroeconomic analysis. Influence change at tactical, team and individual levels while creating strategic alignment between cross-functional teams. Develop a prioritized business & finance plan that both delivers the needs of the business and is consistent with the overall strategy and business plan. Use strategic frameworks, advanced models, business & competitor knowledge to devise strategy, understand trade-offs, and make informed business decisions. Forecast future state of the economy, business, customer and competitor behavior; anticipate economic conditions and provide strategic insight on how to mitigate impact on the organization as a whole. Consult with others to seek out strategic alternatives; weigh options based on their impact on key business imperatives; tailor offerings and solutions to current and future needs.
Strategic Planning: Leverage strategic planning experience in multiple business environments (globally) to identify the key drivers of sustainable advantage in a specific situation. Proactively analyze emerging trends, anticipate related organizational needs, develop strategies for meeting them and ensure planning process is integrated with the overall business plan. Identify drivers of strategic issues by employing industry analysis techniques, such as Long-range planning, forecasting, Porter’s Five Forces and scenario planning. Evaluate perceived strategy / organizational gaps & alignment issues and the impact of strategic decisions on the value chain. Develop contingency plans or to improve processes and to avoid problems before they occur. Oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives, including allocation of resources, while balancing long-term strategy and short-term objectives. Develop new visualization solutions and advanced dashboards.
Strategy Support and Advisory: Manage matters across business strategy, finance, insurance, enterprise risk management, M&A, pensions, tax, and investor relations etc. Support and influence evidence-based decision making by objectively establishing requirements, identifying options, selecting and recommending solutions to deliver services that provide value to business. Recognize and translate complex data into insights to support stakeholders and explain complex data in an easy to understand way. Manage group processes to achieve desired outcomes, using facilitation tools and techniques to maximize the group’s decision-making potential. Advise on use of a range of diagnostic tools, methods and techniques. Makes a holistic assessment using information and knowledge from tools and techniques and from market experience.
Business Acumen: Develop, evaluate and implement proposed business cases for projects and initiatives. Influence business stakeholder decision making. Translate business requirements into strategies, initiatives, and projects and aligns them to business strategy and objectives, and drives the execution of deliverables. Demonstrate deep expertise of multiple business units/organizations being supported. Build and articulate the business case and return on investment and delivers work that has demonstrable value. Challenge business assumptions on topics related to one’s domain expertise; develop new organization-wide processes and ways of working. Teach and guide others on best practices. Proactively engage in the external community to build Walmart’s brand and learn more about industry practices.
Financial Acumen: Understand the business choices and how it applies to the business context. Accurately diagnose financial realities, identify key issues & opportunities, and forecast future changes to mitigate risks in the area of responsibility. The annual salary range for this position is $119,000.00-$221,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
