Digital Marketing Paralegal

JOB DESCRIPTION: To work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment while exhibiting a strong sense of project ownership and interest in marketing and advertising law. Key candidate will have an ability to think critically, be detail-oriented and have outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal). This position will report to Senior Legal Counsel, Marketing & Advertising.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review marketing, advertising, promotional materials and product packaging in various formats, such as print, digital (Web), social media, user apps, in-store signage, etc. to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Company’s marketing strategies, both current and historical.
  • Be able to build relationships across multiple business lines with key stakeholders such as corporate communications, loyalty subscription programs, social media and digital marketing with the ability to effectively communicate legal ideas, analysis and concepts in everyday terms.
  • Coordinate with the department attorneys and the Legal Compliance Analyst to revise and fine-tune compliance intake processes and develop educational tools to support the business lines. Also assist in the daily management of incoming projects and assist with managing multiple deadlines.
  • Assist with coordinating corporate trainings and regular meetings with the marketing business lines.
  • Be willing to commit to ongoing professional development in the area of advertising law (by, among other things, attending conferences, CLE courses, etc.) to develop and maintain skill in this very nuanced area.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (communications, pre-law, technology management or business degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years general paralegal support at a highly recognized law firm or corporate in-house legal department.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property (familiarity with trademark law and concepts), consumer protection laws (with the FTC/FDA) and data privacy.
  • Technical savvy – must have very strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and One Drive, SharePoint, Forms, Power Automate, Visio and Streams) and Atlassian (Trello). Experience with Monday.com and Red Marker preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to juggle multiple time-sensitive projects while collaborating with the team to stay in sync and work independently to get projects done with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to identify areas of legal risk, be decisive, and know when to escalate for attorney input.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and process-centric.
  • Not afraid of technology and innovation; willing to continually develop new technical skills.
  • A keen sense of humor, ability to build camaraderie with the team and ability to be flexible as goals shift.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills required.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.

The salary range is $75,400 to $97,900 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).

The position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or one of our main regional offices (Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, Pleasanton CA, Dallas TX, Chicago, IL, or Fullerton, CA, Phoenix, AZ).

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TASKS:

College experience (bachelor degree preferred)

At least 4 years of prior administrative assistant experience

Able to uphold and maintain confidentiality

Provide administrative support by preparing reports, handling information requests, maintaining meeting agendas and notes.

Prepare draft correspondence and proofread as needed.

Demonstrate initiative.

Arrange conference calls within the Company and with outside counsel, vendors.

Manage Senior Counsel’s calendar, including scheduling and arranging meetings and reporting deadlines and ensure smooth functioning of daily operations.

Technical savvy – must have very strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and One Drive, SharePoint, Forms, Power Automate, Visio and Streams) and Atlassian (Trello). Experience with Monday.com and Red Marker preferred, but not required.

Coordinate with IT Department on all software and hardware issues for the Legal Compliance Team.
