Job Description

Driven by WithinReach’s vision, mission, values and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, the Senior Manager of Communications and Outreach is responsible for bringing leadership to our communications and outreach work to increase awareness of and engagement in our work through consistent messaging, brand and content strategy, and by identifying opportunities for promotion, partnership and outreach. This person will act as a key strategist and storyteller, working across teams and building our capacity to communicate about organizational impact. The ideal candidate will have a visionary and creative approach to their work, be a critical thought partner, collaborative and agile, and take initiative to independently drive projects and strategy.

Qualifications

Strategic Communications

  • Advance and develop communications strategies that raise awareness about our services statewide and align with the growing work of our systems team.
  • Lead quality content creation and build cohesion and strategy around email campaigns and newsletters, social media and other channels of communications, in collaboration with the Communications and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator.
  • Develop a storytelling process and strategy by collaborating with our direct service team to ensure our communication is authentic, strengths-based and prioritizes family voice.
  • Review and synthesize best practices, evidence and/or data to develop inclusive communications materials and strategies to reach diverse populations.
  • Support grant writing and reporting.

Outreach and Events

  • Lead and track outreach efforts organization-wide, assuring presentations have consistent branding and messaging, representing WithinReach at external events if needed, coordinating requests for outreach, and making connections for deeper engagement with partners.
  • Network and support bidirectional relationship-building with community-based organizations serving marginalized and historically underserved communities.
  • Plan and lead our team’s annual Learning Series and support additional team events/campaigns; act as the communications lead for organization events, such as the biennial Immunization Summit.

Project Management

  • Collaborate across teams and with external partners to support and guide communications and outreach strategy for contracts, initiatives, and new and spenddown funding.
  • Assess and pilot new projects when needed.
  • Lead the engagement of internal staff, parents/caregivers and partners around projects when it is important to incorporate family or community voice into communications and outreach work.
  • Use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive strategic decisions for our communication and outreach work.

Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise the communications work of the Communication and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator, including weekly 1:1 meetings and annual performance reviews.
  • Participate on the program leadership team to support alignment and strategy on projects, programs and initiatives.
  • Advise the Director of Communications and Development on resources needed to meet team goals and deliverables.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, partnership development and outreach, including 2 or more years managing people.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading communications and outreach strategies to support organizational priorities and drive positive results
  • Experience developing culturally adapted and relevant outreach and messaging strategies to reach historically underserved or marginalized populations, and an understanding of the importance of formative research and discovery as an initial step.
  • Strong communicator, with success in collaborating and relationship-building cross-functionally with internal and external partners
  • Engaging public speaker; excel at giving presentations both virtually and in person.
  • Proven ability to adapt and brainstorm for new initiatives and supporting evolving priorities, with experience in strategic and creative problem solving, planning and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and Constant Contact, or with similar email marketing and web content management systems.

Additional Information

Salary & Benefits: $84,000, Full Time, 40 hours/week. Exempt. Work Location: This position can be fully remote or hybrid (home office is located at 155 NE 100th Street, Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98125). This position requires access to reliable internet connection and the ability to work effectively in a remote setting. Applicants must reside in Washington.
