Job Description

CRDF Global, a global leader advancing security, health and economic progress through science, innovation and collaboration, is seeking an experienced Director of Strategic Communications. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director will be responsible for leading CRDF’s communications team in the development and implementation of CRDF Global’s internal and external communications. The primary role of this team is to assist the executive team and program leadership to promote the mission of CRDF. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in strategic communications gained from working at non-governmental organizations focused on global international development and security, and international service organizations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops an effective communications strategy that promotes the mission of our customers and broadens awareness of our programs and priorities
  • Working closely with the executive team, designs communications and public relations initiatives to support the organization’s strategic plan and mission priorities
  • Builds, leads and mentors the CRDF Global communications team
  • Develops, produces, and maintains internal and external communications
  • Oversees corporate communications and branding in various online and print platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and industry magazines
  • Manages corporate website including methods to deliver message, ease of navigation, and clarity of information; ensures that all content is current and relevant
  • Provides consistent and timely information to employees through various communications programs in a global setting
  • Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with various members of the media and is responsible for monitoring media activities that impact CRDF Global
  • Coordinates with marketing team to design and deliver content in support of the CRDF growth and marketing strategy

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in leading teams in communications, media, public policy, or related fields to domestic and international audiences
  • Demonstrated experience in managing communications and strategies across multiple locations, including diverse international offices
  • Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is preferred
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts into concise and understandable messages
  • Demonstrated experience in managing communications and strategies across multiple locations, including diverse international offices
  • Experience working with domestic and international media and opinion leaders
  • Strong interpersonal and consensus building skills; ability to work across functions and geographies in an action oriented, fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Familiarity with website management and design, social media, and current/emerging information platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in managing internal communications to a distributed, international workforce
  • U.S. government security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain clearance
  • U.S. work authorization is required

Salary & Benefits: The base pay range for this position is $105,360 to $158,000. The determination of salaries in this job classification depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant candidate experience, job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills. In addition, we have a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; 403(b) retirement savings plan; paid time off; education reimbursement; student loan paydown and more.
