Berry Corporation (bry) has a remote opening for a Senior Network and Security Engineer who must reside in either California, Texas, Utah, or Oklahoma. As a Senior Network and Security Engineer, you will lead a team in planning, designing, monitoring, and troubleshooting the network and security systems for Berry, both on premise and in the cloud. You will play a key role in defining the security and network architecture of Berry, ensuring its security, performance, and productivity. You will also protect Berry’s systems from cyber-attacks, breaches, intrusion, infiltration, and natural disasters. Key Accountabilities
- Manages and updates the network and security system across all the organization’s operating assets.
- Provides guidance, audit, configuration, and maintenance of company network equipment.
- Leads a team of engineers that assist with maintaining network systems.
- Ensures backup, recovery, and verification of all network configurations.
- Applies periodic firmware updates to the computers and devices related to network systems.
- Participates in the development, and acquisition of all network equipment.
- Coordinates break/fix support for network devices and associated systems.
- Follows technical standards, guidelines, and best practices in implementing and designing company networks and systems.
- Supports IT in defining and maintaining security policies and meeting audit requirements.
- Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups, and personnel with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced.
- Plans, engineers, and monitors the security arrangements to protect the network systems.
- Creates different ways to solve the existing threats and security issues.
- Configures and implements intrusion detection systems and firewalls.
- Maintains firewalls, virtual private networks, web protocols, virus, and threat detection systems.
- Investigates security incidents, collect incident responses, and carry out forensic investigations.
- Reviews the latest technologies and processes that improve the system’s overall security.
- Uses industry-standard analysis criteria to test the security level of the company.
- Develops tracking documents to note system vulnerabilities.
- Reports the security analysis and monitoring findings.
- Assists the IT department with implementing regulatory systems in accordance with IT security.
- Informs the company about the security incidents as soon as possible.
- Performs within the guidelines of policies and directives at or above company performance.
- Complies with all the Company’s Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs. Take corrective action within training limitations. Escalate as necessary.
- Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge, and safety standards and improve job performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma / G.E.D equivalent required.
- Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information systems, or a related field or Technical Certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical Certification in Computer Science, Information Management, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, PCNSA, CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent are preferred.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience working in a technical support role advising on and supporting company network systems and security appliances preferably in the Oil and Gas, manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial networking.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Critical:
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Leadership skills.
- Communication (both written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP, Cisco switch configuration, Juniper switch configuration
- Advanced knowledge of firewall technologies, including Palo Alto firewall appliances and services.
Required:
- Ability to multi-task by supporting various applications daily.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently.
- Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation.
- Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not know networking technical terminology.
Desired:
- Knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies.
- Knowledge of Oil & Gas Operations, specifically IoT and SCADA networks and the security design and communication between IoT and Corporate networks.
- Experience with design, implementation, and support of virtualized infrastructures, both on-premise and cloud ipsec and security implementations.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay range for this position in California is between $104,000 to $123,500 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that the annual salary information is a general guideline, and that annual salary will vary depending on your location and that Berry Corporation (“Berry”) will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope of responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considers when extending an offer. This position is eligible for short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive bonus, excellent benefits including full health benefits, 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting, tuition reimbursement, 9/80 flex schedules, and generous paid time off.
