** July 2023 – 4.38% increase to base pay (2.75% Across-the-Board + 1.63% Market Inc.)

THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT AT STEP 1, $49,712.00 ANNUALLY. County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5.

Parks and Recreation Department

HIRING PROCESS AND TIMELINE:

  • Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Two (2) years of full-time experience performing a variety of semi-skilled structural and grounds maintenance work, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical repairs, and gardening for an organization or agency; OR,
  2. One (1) year of experience as a Park Maintenance Worker for the County of San Diego.

Working Conditions
Requires working outdoors. May be exposed to a variety of weather conditions. May be exposed to dust, gas, the fumes or odors of fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, and other strong chemical cleaning agents. May be required to work on weekends as needed. May require working around equipment and machinery, walking on uneven ground, exposure to excessive noise, working at heights, operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement, and use of special visual or auditory protective equipment.
